How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Check-in was chaotic, route description leads to wrong side of the buillding. Beds without bedside tables or lamps to read by. Bathroom OK, basic. For a "youth hostel" €72 per night is quite pricey.
Free food stuff (to make yourself breakfast), fruit, coffee, tea, etc. Location OK, places to go eat are relatively nearby.

The rooms aren’t very sound-proof (although they are advertised as such). Somebody opened and closed their door multiple times during the night. It felt like they were doing it next to my ear. I could hardly sleep because of that. Could also hear them snore, use the toilet and shower.
Great location and friendly staff. Rooms are very basic, but clean enough.

Everything was great.
Nice and clean room with sufficient space for our gear. Open kitchen space (for all guests) with many-sided supper/breakfast items. Everything necessary available.

There was no air conditioning in any of the rooms even though it was advertised. The owner just told that "she does not think it is mentioned anywhere".

Not really anything. Maybe the second layer of curtains can block sunlight entirely.
The hostel has all the standard items desired at breakfast. Bread, cheese, salami, cucumber, yogurt, serials, eggs, muffins, coffee, tea, juice, milk, etc. The kitchen is large enough for several people to prepare meals. The owner is very helpful and friendly. It is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in Finland. It is very close to the train and bus station. I arrived late and I was able to prepare a dinner for myself with the free ingredients that they offer. I would definitely stay again and recommend to travelers.

The walls were extremely thin, so I could hear everything going on in the lounge.

I would like the room to be clean often if one is staying there for long.

Rooms look very dated
Very dog friendly owner, but there was a surcharge of 15 euro for the dog. Free stuff for breakfast

Street address for the parking entrance should have been mentioned in the booking confirmation.
Excellent bed & breakfast and the landlady was kind and helpful and proactive not lazy waiting. One thing though since the parking is entrance via another street than the street mentioned as the hostel address it should be mentioned as well. ALSO because actual physical entrance is from the back of the building. So that should be rectied for those arriving by car, but as mentioned landlady most helpful. Room was big, shower was good and facilities nice and clean. Pleasant experience overall within 5-10 minn walk to major shopping centres etc.

I only stayed there for a short night between 2 trains, so I didn't really have enough time to inspect the place in depth. ;-) The room was comfortable and the self-catering kitchen provided free food for breakfast.

Room happened to be quite close to the breakfast area so sounds of people making breakfast were present in the room. Staircase outside had an edge where my fiance almost sprang her ankle.
Buffet breakfast that you could do on your own from the food bought by the Hostel. Same ingredients that you would find any hotel breakfast. It was possible to cook a nice evening snack from the same food. Hostess and other guests were very nice and friendly.
