Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandThe bathroom is the first one that needs renovation, in my humble opinion. It's clean, though, just very outdated and not that fresh.
It's basic, but you get good quality for the price you pay. It was nice to find a cookie and some coffee powder in the room :) I even could sleep the window open even though it's next to the rails. And I never needed to queue to the toilet or bathroom.

FinlandA Finnish speciality: you need to do the linen… but het, it is a minuscle price for the above upsides!!
Value for the money and the magical ability to squeeze everything necessary into minimal space: a fridge, a TV, a coffeemaker, anwater boiler for tea, a closet and a sink for good measure (remember, this place has shared showers)… and free parking, all this 300m from the center square…! And did I mention a desk and a chair if you want to do some remote work… and there is something that is rapidly becoming a rarity…a reading lamp!

HungaryThe bathroom is pretty small.
It is very close both to the railway station and the city center, everything was reachable on foot. The check-in and out couldn't be more simple! The single room was just about the right size for one traveller and well equipped.

NetherlandsDisposable boards and cups instead of reusable items. Nobody at the reception welcoming us (we arrived around 3 o'clock in the afternoon).
Comfy bed. Floor heating in toilet. Some amenities in the room such as kettle. Nice big window. Cute Christmas decoration. Great location, just a minute by foot to train station. Also very close to most places in city centre.

FinlandThe only thing I didn’t like was the toilet and bathroom. It was together and was not enough space. Since we stayed only one night, it was not that much of a problem. But it would be nice to have space in the shower.
Since we had to quarantine, we couldn’t make it on the dates we were supposed to be there. Since it was non-refundable, the owner was kind enough to change the dates. The room was very tidy. The parking space was there. And it’s closer to the market square. Safe environment. With COVID, they used no contact delivery for key. And there’s a microwave and refrigerator in room :)

FinlandThe room was really very small, especially for two people. The common WCs are clean, but very small and with no ventilation (I won't go into the details...)
The equipment in the room is very basic, but clean and new. Sheets, mattress, blankets, towels and pillows were new and clean. the same applies to the fridge and the microwave (which we did not use). Our towels were changed every day. Beds are comfy and the furniture is simple, but in very good shape. We met once the manager, and she was super friendly and helpful.

SpainThis accommodation combines all the respective disadvantages of a hotel compared to a hostel and vice versa, but none of the respective advantages: What it takes from hotels is the lack of kitchen/cooking facilities. On the other hand, as in hostels, the bathroom is shared, and as in some (but by far not all!) hostels, sheets have to be put on the bed by the guests upon arrival - an absolute no-go for a hotel (note though that none of the hostels I stayed at in Finland required me to do that!). At the same time, this place is clearly not a hostel, given the lack of common areas and community. The bathroom couldn’t have been smaller and featured a single faucet for both sink and shower. The garbage bin was virtually standing in the shower area and the shower has no shower tray. Beds lack bed lamps and the plates, cups and cutlery in the room were all plastic (zero sustainability). Shortage of accessible power outlets. The furniture was generally jumbled together and the whole place felt extremely random and uninviting.
