Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandThe staff in the breakfast could have been more friendly. There were oat milk available, however it was not the barista-version and I would expect it to be available for all, without having to request it. Unfortunately there is a extra cost for a dog, 10€/night, even that they don't provide anything for your dog (no nap, no blanket etc.). For two nights it was still somehow reasonable but if you stay longer then it get's expensive. At least there room was well cleaned.
Rooms are old but tidy and very quiet, thanks to the location and the thick double doors. The breakfast was very good, offered everything we could wish for. Gluten free bread was available upon request and very good and tasty in quality. The staff were helpful and Finnish speaking. Hotel offers many free activities, there were a very good gym and morning sauna was offered as well. In the summer there is also a pool. You can also have a walk around the Pommer-ship, also in the winter. And the sailing museum is just across the street. The location of the hotel is very good, the area is quiet, but it's near the city center and ferry terminal. There is a beautify park just next to the hotel and pathways lead to the old water tower, offering great views. Good place to stay with dogs, there are no carpets in the room and park is near.

FinlandThe room's own kitchen was not very well equipped (only a microwave oven and a very small fridge) so I would not recommend this for families who want to cook their own dinner / lunch. The hotel breakfast was not as good as one would expect from Scandinavian hotels, that usually have quite abundant continental-style breakfasts. Special diets are not included in the breakfast without separate request, so if you are a vegan or gluten-free visitor, please make sure you have something to eat at the breakfast buffet. Breakfast consisted of mainly bread, some sausages and cheese plus oat porridge.
(This review applies for the suite room only!) The upmost floor suite has it's own balcony, separate air conditioning for sleeping area and kitchen area plus a spacious bathroom with separate bathtub and shower. Balcony was facing to the sea and the view was lovely. The location is excellent and despite it the area was quite peaceful (we were staying there during the weekend). There's also a pool in the hotel yard, although it was mainly used by kids during the day and evening.

Good location in central Mariehamn. The main attraction is a large and well kept outdoor pool which is a big plus during summer. Large rooms with personal chairs and tables.

FinlandBreakfast has never been their strong side. This time, it was worse than usual, with soggy bacon, watery grey scrambled eggs. For real, please please have someone cook breakfast who knows what they're doing.

United StatesRoom was small and the bathroom was tiny. Breakfast was very disappointing.
Bed was comfortable. The porch was very nice. Still too cool to use the pool (opens June 1 and that may be optimistic). Good location close to the ferry, across the street from the nautical museum, and not far from downtown (nothing is).

MontenegroThe breakfast was basic, but tasty. The overall look is from the 1980s, although the place appears clean.
Good location near the harbor and also not far away from the main streets of this small town. The atmosphere is friendly and peaceful. The price is very affordable.

The room was big enough and comfortable, the buffet breakfast was good and and it was possible to choose among a variety of sweet or salty foods, the reception is 24h open and there is a free parking if you have a car. The hotel is excactly in front of the Maritime musem and is just ten minutes away (walking) from the city center; the ferry terminal is 2 minutes away by car.

SwedenBreakfasts could be better in terms of quality, although each of us found something for ourselves. It is better to avoid the room at the front door, the service staff slammed the door every now and then during cleaning, which made it impossible to rest or watch TV calmly.
Although you can see that the place is time-worn, it is very clean. Front desk service very nice and always helpful.

Czech RepublicThere is also a possibility to rent a bike for free, which is very good, but unfortunatly these bikes were not usable. Its technical state was not ride it at all, we tried to repair it ourselves. They borroved us even some tools, but it was not realistic to repair it. Otherwise it is very good stay.
It is a very nice hotel, very nice surroundings, close to center and close to harbour. Comfortable rooms. There is a possibility to use pool or sauna, unfortunatly we did not have a time.
