Justin left no stone unturned to ensure we not only had a great stay but the food was absolutely delectable as well. He represents the best of the famous Lapland hospitality. And additionally, the hotel itself is in an absolutely sere location, by a lake and fairly central to all the key national parks around. We couldn't have made a better choice.

Excellent property with a fabulous view across the wintry landscape. Room was very spacious and comfortable with great facilities. Ample parking for the car. An amazing place. The staff is great, very kind and nice people. You can see that they love what they do, and this is one of the greater things you can experience in family owned accommodation. The location, just by a lake, is superb in all the ways! Un lloc per anar i tornar-hi!

Nothing, it was perfect

The room was perfect and clean, with a nice view of the lake next to the hotel and the reindeer roaming around. Breakfast was good too. Very recommended

A walking route around the lake or nearby the hotel would have been a huge plus but at the moment there wasn't any

A quiet place with a nice lakeview. Our room was larger than we expected. The appliances and furniture in the room weren't new but they worked. We only stayed one night but next time we could stay longer.

Good sized room, kids especially liked loft as sleeping place. Quiet and peaceful place, and bonus was reindeer herds visiting the yard.

Only two suggestions to further improve the stay at Kuusamon Portti: 1) heavier curtains could be useful in the summer to protect the sleep of "southern" visitors that are not used to such an amount of light in the night 2) a hairdryer in the bathroom would be excellent.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the food, especially the salmon soup, was really good (the best meals we had during our stay in Finland), the position near the lake is exceptional, especially for birdwatchers like us: a pair of black-throated divers and one-two pairs of wood sandpipers could be admired by the shore and sometimes by the terrace. Reindeers can be seen from the room window and around the hotel we observed a lot of passerines (siskins, crossbills, redwings and more). The sunsets on the lake after dinner are among the best souvenirs of this holiday, the landscape is really magic.

We booked for one night, my friend ended up staying several nights since she tested positive for Covid. The owner helped us out immediately, gave her another room with a fridge, microwave, prepared meals for her. They were super friendly, the food they prepared was amazing (don't go to town to eat!), the location is super: near a busy road, but you do not hear any noise and there is a huge lake behind the hotel. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place!! Thank you very much for your help!!!!

The room we got was good and clean. It was homey and friendly atmosphere. We felt like home.The kids loved the second floor where they could have their own place and space. The location was good in visiting Ruka Skii Resort, Magical Pond for reindeer ride and husky ride. Two hours by car to Rovaniemi. The free breakfast offered were excellent, healthy breakfast. Oat porridge was always available. Slices of tomatoes, honeymelon, and cucumber were part of the meal among other things, and their own homemade dark bread,the BEST! Sauna was great, always available. The staff (young entrepreneur) was helpful, friendly,professional and attentive. We had an excellent 5 days stay.
