Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

FinlandCleanliness in bathroom and rooms next to it. You really should clean and wipe off the exhaust fumes that sauna has left. Obviously somebody who has been using it has forget or hasn't know how to use wood sauna and pipe plate has been in closed position, so plase has been smoked. Beds, plankets and pillows were very nice. Also backyard was good.

FinlandOwner did not speak Finnish and really bad English. Charged me extra money for kids’ staying after arrival said I didn’t book for kids, except I did booked for kids and had the booking confirmation. And I was asked to pay the extra money to some personal account which the owner said was their cleaner’s bank account. The house was in the middle of no where and I had 3 kids with me so I had no other choice then pay him first because I was afraid he wouldn’t let us stay overnight. I complained to Booking.com twice, spent hours in phone waiting for them asking for instructions. And Booking.com first said it was their system problem, then said it was the owner’s fault. But anyways it was not my fault. Booking.com promised to communicate with the owner, said it was impossible because the owner spoke no English, which was really weird because the text messages sent from the owner was perfect English. Anyways, Booking.com promised me that they will find someone working in Booking.com who spoke the owner’s own language to tell him to return the money to me. And if I don’t get the money back from the owner, Booking.com will pay my money back. However, it has been a month and I still haven’t got my money back neither from the owner, nor booking.com. And the money really wasn’t worth me to spend so much time and put so much effort on it. So please be really careful with the payment trap, be prepared with impossible to communicate, and don’t expect efficient customer service afterwards.
