Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChinaWe didn't bring any repellent with us, there were a lot of mosquitos on the island, should have bought some from main island.
The host welcomed us into her family, we really like the interactions we had with all the family freinds. The food was really fresh and tasty, we had some fancy crabs for one night. It's a very beautiful hut right in front of the beautiful ocean, we would consider come back sometime in the future.

ReunionI stayed only 2 nights at Navi's homestay and I wish I had more time. They welcomed me as familly, food was delicious, and it was a great experience to discover the local life (going to church, visiting the village, drinking kava with locals..). Thanks for opening your home to me and for your kindness !

Authentic expérience with à fijian family and meet up with the chef in the village was a must. Meeting the family, People in the village, doing some excursion in the cave, blue Lagoon and feeding the fish was absolutly amazing 🤩 I will recommend it !

CanadaWe confirmed that our transfers were included in the price to and from the Tavewa Ferry. But once we arrived, our host asked us for an additional $200 for transport in the fibreglass boat to and from the Tavewa Ferry. We compromised on $50 even though its supposed to be included. Our homestay was at Nabukeru which is a 3 min boat ride from the caves yet were charged $100 for transportation to and from caves over top of actual cost of caves. We snorkelled back from caves to homestay. That's how close we were. We know that other much further locales charge less than this in transport to and from caves. Once again we felt the gouging which left a bad taste in our mouths. We came with some gifts in addition to the Kava we brought yet had to ask several times if there would be a kava ceremony we could attend. We kept being promised this and finally on last night when it hadn't happened thus far, we asked yet again. Our host said they had no Kava. We expressed disappointment and magically it appeared and they put on a beautiful Kava Ceremony. We're not sure why the reluctance to do this and why we had to keep asking. The other thing we had to ask for was towels. We were told we would be provided with a towel each so we didn't bring our own. Finally on last day after asking several times, we were brought towels. I know our host works very hard and he was very kind and sweet. Maybe he is overworked, I am not sure - but some of these things made for a bit of a rocky stay,
Location close to caves. Loved the people. Our host very attentive and worked very hard. We met different families who hosted our meals and they were lovely

AustraliaRubbish on the beach.
Everything about this homestay was incredible, the people, the children, the food, the hospitality, the love, the genuine fijian experience. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with a traditional fijian handmade lei/ salusalu around our necks. We were embraced and felt the love. The fijian children were excited to meet us, and show us their village. We quickly got to know them all, and their infectious spirit was magical. Malevu Village quicky become like a second home to us. The 4 hosts were so incredible, and we felt like part of the family. We all cried when we left, such a special experience. Philip helped with our children, and was amazing. He took us on a walk to visit the school, and took us snorkeling to a nearby island. He was an amazing tour guide. Loii was a fabulous mum to all of us, and an incredible cook. She ensured our rooms were cleaned daily, she washed our clothes, she cooked the most incredible food. She ensured we had fresh juice each meal. This was a 10/10 homestay experience. Very authentically fijian, and we totally enjoyed our stay and we will be staying in touch with this beautiful family, and most magical village.

This was by far the most Authentic Fiji Experience I had in my 2 weeks in Fiji, I loved being amongst the community in the village and seeing how the families work together and share together. So many people laughing and welcoming. The Hosts Elia and Salome were amazing and very beautiful people. It was also wonderful to meet some of their family and the food was the best I had in Fiji. The highlight was the Octopus in coconut milk!!! Also the visit to Blue Lagoon to snorkel with all the tropical fish and the boat trip to the Caves (a MUST!) Looking forward to coming back next year in July.

FranceWe were in Vatia Homestay, in Malevu Village, Naviti Island. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming, we felt like members of family. We really enjoyed living the fijian life and Fiji time ! We discovered the fijian culture and way of life. We went to church, we did the sevusevu ceremony, we tried Kava and we played with the kids. The food was good and varied, we had crabe, octopus, kasava, roti, coconut and much more ! Don't expect to much comfort, there is no hot water, but it was enough and everything was clean. We really recommand this adress if you want to have real fijian experience, we will never forget it ! Thank you again for everything
