Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe pillows on the beds weren't very comfortable, and we would have loved a kava ceremony for all guests rather than once a week for a limited number of guests. Essentials are very expensive, stop at a supermarket on your way to the resort to stock up on bottled water and snacks. Whilst not the fault of the resort, the beach isn't great for swimming as it is very shallow with lots of rocks and coral. Unfortunately, a lot of coral bleaching has occurred which limited the amount of sea life there.
The staff were so beautiful, friendly and accommodating (One staff member in particular, her name was Sava, was SO sweet!). There was always enough seating at the pools, our room was clean and the food (whilst pricey) was delicious. Coffee was excellent, especially at the Sundowner.

Australia-service around pool & in restaurants was really poor! Sometimes we’d order a drink as simple as a can of coke, we’d get our meals, eat & be ready to leave and our drinks would still have not arrived -sometimes when we asked they’d say they forgot to bring it -at one point we were charged for drinks that never came &cwe had to dispute -around the pool it was hard to flag a staff member down to get a drink or order food -sometimes not enough deck chairs -the rules were inconsistent ie/ some kids on kids eat free/some not
-pools were great & big! -kids club/miemie were great with lots of activities -staff were really lovely to the kids

AustraliaWe made requests for food to have no seasoning and vegetables to be well cooked (for the baby) but every time this was ignored when the food arrived. The food was also a hit or a miss every time . Limited dining options and free activities to enjoy during stay at resort. Kids club village was also a bit run down. Housekeeping were slow to respond to requests . Felt it was expensive for what we got
Staff were friendly and loved that kids get to eat free! Hotel room were also a comfortable stay and enjoyed the butler service bringing canapés and drinks daily. My kids loved the pool!

AustraliaCons -the renovations happening such as the pool slides, the Thai restaurant and half of the rooms was a little unideal for the aesthetic element and noises, but anyone booking in future won’t be affected by this. -the general store on the resort had a lot less than we bargained for and we had to leave to find a supermarket to buy more formula and nappies. Just an fyi for parents-bring extra! - about an hour + trip from the airport and not a huge amount around the resort unless you’re willing to drive / organise transfers. Note to management - we loved the kalokalo bar but would have loved food to be served (we heard it used to be a tapas bar) as it’s such beautiful views we wanted to stay but got hungry & left early. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay at outrigger Fiji and can’t wait to return! A 10/10 must visit for families.
Review: Outrigger I stayed at the outrigger Fiji for 8 nights towards the end of their hot season with my partner and 8 month old baby. Here’s my comprehensive overview of pros and cons: Pro’s -The food! There were four main restaurants open when we went (one under renovation) and we were blown away by the quality of the meals. We had an amazing dinner at the award winning seafood restaurant, IVI, but the standout has to be the buffet restaurant up by the adult pool area and bar. each night they had a different country cuisine and each night we went, we were so stuffed to the brim because we wanted to try everything twice. The buffet breakfast is also a 10/10. -the people. I don’t know who to praise the most. The service really is out of this world, from the moment you enter the property each person greets you with some happiness and enthusiasm you can’t help but smile constantly. Everyone remembered our names, especially our baby daughter who truly was the main character. I’ve never experienced service like it. -the meimei service. We hired a nanny to look after our baby for two days, in four hour slots. Vani, our meimei was just incredible and we trusted her entirely. They were kind, attentive and most importantly, safe. And the centre itself was the perfect place for kids to hang out whilst my partner and I enjoyed some much needed us time! -our room was divine. We had originally booked an ocean view room but were upgraded on arrival to an ocean view premium room which had recently undergone full renovations. Everything was perfect and new, huge comfy bed and large tv with chrome cast so we could stream movies. The shower in particular was luxurious. We were also right next to the pool which made life that much easier so we could easily pop back for nap time. -the butler service that came with our room was such a nice touch and we looked forward to our bubbles and canapés every evening. -the adult pool is perfect and the swim up bar is a bonus.

New ZealandThe wifi went down a lot and my app stopped working after a few days and I had to reinstall it. Winds and tides often prevented snorkelling which was part of the reason I chose the venue.
Great friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of restaurants and activities. The app was really useful when it worked.

New Zealandwe weren’t properly aware of the bond, 5 of us booked and all missed the information about the bond,it wasn’t made obvious to read or see, it was no where to be found on booking.com,We also all tried to find it on the actual outrigger website. although it all works out in the end and goes towards your bill, this should be clearer upon booking and should be added to the important information section on booking.com.
loved the people so friendly inviting and attentive, the location exceeded expectations, what this resort has to offer is of absolute abundance!

AustraliaWas lots of renovations happening at the time which meant we were moved into the lagoon wing. Which wasn’t the worst thing in the world but the room didn’t have the greatest view. Which seemed more a downgrade then an upgrade we were offered. It must be said that whilst there were lots of renovations, they didn’t disturb the holiday with noise or workers
Great spa, adults only pool was good. Beach had adequate swimming. We do not have children but the kids club and facilities looked very good. The restaurants did good food, in particular the beach restaurant. Highlight had to be the crab shack which ironically isn’t part of the hotel and right next door! Mud crab is a must

New ZealandThey need a dedicated wedding function restaurant rather than close off one of the hotel restaurants to guests. There was a wedding every single night of our stay,
Genuine and friendly staff, the food at the Asian restaurant, sea views from beachside restaurant, the best kids club from the 3 five star Fiji hotels we stayed in on this trip

GermanyIt is a 5star family vacation resort, not a 5 star hotel. Not more, not less. And the prices for food are everywhere in Fiji really high. No difference here.
Really lovely resort. Nice details, adult pool and fun snorkeling area directly in front of the beach. Food was okay, like really okay. Not bad at all, but nothing extraordinary. Rooms were very nice, and the service was refreshingly nice. Extraordinary for this kind of resort I would say. We found the staff in general very friendly and helpful. If you like resorts, you might like this. Be aware that the beach is not for easy swimming and not for beautiful coral snorkeling, even so you have a wide range of fun fish, but the current can be strong and the water therefore a little unclear.

New ZealandWas extremely expensive and so many renovations going on in half of the rooms so you would think they wouldn’t charge so much to stay there at that stage of construction with all the noise etc. Beach also isn’t very swimable unless you are snorkelling at high tide which only happened once for an hour because of the wind.
Food, pool and staff were great! Very spread out so alot of walking to get anywhere which we didn’t mind to much as we took the buggy but then we were also in oceanview rooms so had to carry buggy up 4 stories.

AustraliaThere were lots of renovation work going on that was definitely not reflected on the price, this created noise. Shortages of sun-beds
The location is beautiful and the Spa is gorgeous. If it wouldn’t have rain so much beach would have been more enjoyable and all the water sports equipment available more usable. The Sundowner Bar & Restaurant was a great place to have breakfast and dinners.

AustraliaMore activities that were suited for adults. The location is a bit far from town and not many restaurants (outside of the resort) nearby. The restaurants in the resort were very pricey.
The resort itself is beautiful. The adult-only pool is very relaxing. The rooms and bathroom were clean. The butler service was a plus and delivering water each day as well.

AustraliaThe rooms are a bit tired, but while we were there they were renovating a lot of ocean view rooms and bures so looks like that won’t be an issue in a few months.

Australia3% surcharge on all items - was told that this was a mastercard charge, only to then be charged another 'mastercard' charge on our account of 3% as well. There was also a room fee per night of $150 that was not disclosed at the time of booking. Additional charges are annoying, but ok ....as long as you are aware of them when you are selecting your accommodation. As with any resort in Fiji - be prepared to spend your money on food. It is expensive. The beach at Outrigger isn't nearly as nice or convenient as Shangri-la as it is mostly coral (so not sandy and you can not walk barefoot), however the flip of this is that it is good for snorkeling, so there are definite tradeoffs. The pool was quite good at Outrigger as well, however our personal experience was probably a little unique in that the water was just way too cold for our bub (despite lots of toddlers absolutely loving it) and a kid pooed in the larger part of the pool. We didn't go in the water at all after that. I'm sure that's not everyone's experience, but unfortunately it was ours.
We stayed at three resorts while we were in Fiji and The Outrigger had by far the most beautiful accommodation. The room was absolutely stunning and had obviously been redone recently. Staff were very friendly and the restaurant overlooking the beach was fantastic. We enjoyed our dinner there so much that we came back in the morning for breakfast the next day and were not disappointed.
