Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceNo aircon and some power outages. Bring some insect repellent. Don't expect a beach: the sea shore is actually far away because of the mangrove.
Warm welcome and fantastic owner and staff. Great meals. Such a peaceful place.

United KingdomThis resort has a lot of potential but unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired. The swimming pool wasn't available and the menu only had a few items. .
Good, quiet, off the beaten track location. Good place to switch off. Despite the flaws with the hotel, the staff tried to look after us.

AustraliaWater flow in shower was too slow. Had to fill cups of water to wash hair.
Breakfast was ok. We were served freshly baked bread and fruits. We had opted for a vegetarian breakfast so they had limited choice. Overall the place is nice with a quite location. A good place to relax with nature. They run on solar power so leave your gadgets behind.

New Zealandpools need lights and rubbish bins around the property and in rooms also if an insect spray provided would be great. Also is the road could get tar sealed would be great for tourists to easily drive up also the property needs a bigger signage. pool needs a cover to keep the insects out. Also power would be great.
the property is hidden away in a great environment the host and the cook are just beyond amazing people. food was amazing. service excellent and beds are so comfortable. Rooms are big and spacious and beautiful. Lots of flowers keep the place looking gorgeous. Great view of the sea.

AustraliaNeed clearer signage to state that you are entering Palmlea and it’s not very clear the further you drive and there is only one sign that points to where the lodge is. Also the pool need to be cleaned as it was unusable due to the bugs and other debris in the pool.
Great place to unwind and get away from the rat race. Gorgeous Bures and a lot of detail has gone into the craftsmanship of the buildings. Julie and the staff are exceptional and were always making sure that we were ok and happy to have a chat with us. Will definitely be back to visit again.

CanadaWe booked Pamlea for 7 nights as we wanted somewhere quiet to relax for a few nights. Unfortunately, we had to leave after only one night at this hotel because the reality did not not reflect the photos or description on booking.com. The room was very dirty- mouse poo everywhere, lots of cockroaches, mold on the bedding etc.). On top of that, the pool was not clean, there was not access to the ocean, there was no where to sit and relax on the property. We expected all of these things as they were in the photos on the website. We found out that the photos were taken many years ago. We told the owner we could not stay for the nights we had booked and she refused to give us any money back or any compensation. Do NOT book this hotel.

AustraliaBeing told upon arrival the pool was out of action. This was bad enough but being told it only went down a week ago and we couldn’t be contacted to make alternate plans was not the truth. I had already been in contact during the week about snorkelling equipment via messenger so it could have been done there and I read a comment from someone else the pool was down 2 months ago. I didn’t appreciate this. The shower was a nightmare- an old gas system hard to regulate that was either too hot or just cold. The rotting mangoes everywhere - especially near walk ways to bures covered in fruit fly. Needs picking up. Locks on door didn’t work. Some fruit and juice at breakfast would have been a bonus. Having to pay to go snorkelling as it required a motorised boat to take you. The menu was limited - it needs updating-take off the things that are no longer available.
The view of the ocean was lovely, the food was good and staff were eager to please. it was quiet and relaxing.

GermanyUnfortunately very different from the pictures (from former times) on the internet. After 2 years of COVID, a jetty blown away by a cyclon, and an empty swimming pool not working, the place needs some renovation...
Julie and her team try their best to get the place going again after 2 years of closure due to COVID. Quite isolated, about 15min drive to Labasa (owner picked us from the airport), the only of it's kind at the north coast of Vanualevu. They were just about to repair the jetty, to make it again accessible for yachts, like in "good old times". This will be very important. Hopefully the pool can be repaired aswell. Good food and excellent home made pasta.

AustriaI got bitten by insects in bed on the first night, showed the owner, she asked someone to spray our mattress, then it's ok. We were told on the first night there would be hot water next day, it turned out we never had hot water for 3 days, they sent me to another burre for shower, but no hot water there either. The pool water was not clear either, we could not see the floor. We were taken out for snorkeling for 350 dollar. But the 90% corals on the spot there were dead, not very exciting, the beach would only appear by low tide, so small kids had no chance to play sand, could only sit in boat. I don't recommend snorkeling boat trip. Other than kayaking( kids need to walk about 8 minutes to the jetty, which was broken by cyclone), there was no so much to do, no kids activities nor playground, also no massage......
The breakfast and other meals are all delicious. Staff and owner are all very friendly. Silent atmosphere. Beautiful plants and garden.

GermanyShowers may need a bit of a ''refresh'' and the windows nets to be restored in some spots, but overall nothing else.
It is more than a hotel stay, it is an experience. It is an isolated place with 3-4 bures. The place has a great garden and you can walk around in the nature. Julie is a great host and she has travelled the whole world, ask her about her adventures and great stories. Breakfast was home-made, very special comparing with what you eat elsewhere. I hope I will have the chance to go back again.
