Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe pool was green when we arrived but was cleaned a few days later. The pool area could use a spruce up to be made more inviting for spending time there. The food is expensive for what it is, more like home cooking than restaurant quality, but its restaurant prices. If it was cheaper than the food in the cafes/restaurants then it would be awesome. Also if they improved their cocktail making skills and had a happy hour every night by the pool, that would be really cool!
The staff at Maravu are very warm and friendly. The rooms are awesome and the location is just a few hundred metres from a lovely beach and some cafes. Highly recommend joining Carli for a Kava ceremony and some songs! WiFi is good.

RomaniaWe'd love to stay more :)
The overall experience was amazing, each one made us feel home. We extended our stay because of how great the experience was. We stayed in the villa which has an outstanding view. You can book a ton of activities at the reception. And it's a family owned place which makes you feel you are part of the family. Thank you everyone for this :)

United KingdomFacilities. Stayed in dorm and awful bathroom situation. Bathroom seems to be in an abandoned shed, really unpleasant to use. Intermittent hot water- solar though. Not as pictures show. Toilet is in restaurant- one toilet! Not ideal for 12 dorm spaces. Often unorganised, dates not shown for trips until day before, taxi to airport organised by them was late. Staff were generally pleasant but sometimes seemed reluctant to help. Not always a veggie option for dinner. Not the best atmosphere- no music, staff weren’t happy to be there, seemed a bit lacking of something, can’t put finger on what.
Good location. Did lots of trips, slightly unorganised but well advertised. Lots to do on the island. Quite a sociable place with other guests, layout makes it easy to chat.

AustraliaLocation. Friendly and welcoming staff! Ease of check-in/check-out. Ample open space around the property to just relax and soak in the sun. In-house activities for recreation e.g volleyball, table tennis, mini library was a great mix to other activities around the island that the lodge organizes. Kava nights with the staff steal the show! Must do! Great options for food at the in-house resto. Loved the offerings during Curry Night! Stayed for a week and it was sad to leave Taveuni. Beautiful island, amazing property and staff that became family :)

AustraliaThe place is very run down, has great potential but needs a lot of work. Outdoor shower very very basic, hot water very hit and miss most of the time a miss. Bathroom sink badly cracked and no plug. Rotten floor boards on the verandah. Power goes off 10:30am till 4pm each day. With power going off each day fridge useless, smelt like it hadn't been used in quite a while. Had to hire snorkelling gear.
Great gardens. Meals were basic but okay. Stayed in a Garden Bure which consisted of two rooms plus the bathroom, 1 king bed & 1 double. Tea/coffee facilities though only 1 cup. Small fridge

AustraliaMore a criticism to the owners than the staff, as the staff seem to be doing their best with the minimum resources given. We did not see a hotel manager, which impacts the quality of the services. It's regarded as a resort but with resources way lower than anything in that range but a fairly high price. Our room with 2 double beds came only with 2 bars of soap and bed sheets. Not enough towels, tea set only for superior rooms, no fridge, no complimentary water bottles, no blanket, or anything else you can imagine. Beds were covered with ants, same as other places, old stained sheets, and old towels. Pool area so unloved that guests don't even care to use. Overall, the owners seem not to be in this line of business. I do feel for the staff.
The hotel has the benefit of the location, garden and vicinity to the sea and restaurants. Very friendly staff.

AustraliaNothing really.
Set on a hillside with green gardens overlooking the reef and ocean. Gardens well maintained by Tom who does a free garden and fruit picking tour. Friendly staff will help and guide you to make the most out of your stay by organising trips or helping you do your own with local buses. Spacious room with a good hot water supply for the shower once you worked out the best settings. Kava nights for those who want them or want to learn more about kava protocol when entering villages. Rafa and Kali lead trips to places like Lavena coastal walk, Vuna blowhole and Bouma waterfalls as well as demonstrate weaving. Had some really interesting discussions with both of them about Fijian and village life. Menu changes each night with well priced dishes. Lovu feast can be organised which will show and explain the process and foods used. Water is OK to drink from the tap.

Fijithe rooms with no ocean view are not as good value, as not just the lack of a deck with view to hang out on but they also have no tea/coffee facilities, no toiletries etc. they do provide a comfortable and clean place to sleep but nothing more. also note that the hostel itself only has tea/coffee and food purchase at set times of the day, no snacks or amenities available otherwise.
the staff and everyone around the hostel really are friendly and lovely, there is a friendly, simple, family sort of feel to the place. The top rooms with ocean views at the front of the property are really good value for money for the location. the location is also good as it is across the road from a nice beach cafe and bars to spend days/evenings in.

CanadaFood in the restaurant found to be too salty and oily lucking greens therefore went down to Divers Cafe for most of the meals.
Not sure about dorm as we we’re staying in the deluxe garden bure with 2 room/beds. King bed found to be too firm for my liking, double was comfortable enough. Very basic amenities, bring your shampoo, conditioner and hairdryer. Since the generator runs only 17:00? To 10:00 , bathroom is dark at the day time, no light is coming there… WiFi is really slow if any even in the lobby. Very friendly people working at the property.

FijiThe Aircon was not working well in our room, maybe because they were using the generator because of the power cut that the island is facing for a long period of time.
Everything about Maravu Lodge was beyond expectation. The location is perfect, the staffs are amazing, the view is spectacular, its also close to Bouma waterfalls. An amazing experience I had with my friends and I'm defiantly coming back.

United KingdomWe were quite disappointed with it overall as this place is not cheap and we wished we'd spent the money at a homstay instead. There were a number of things, it was quite run-down, the electricity goes off from 11-4pm, including the WiFi, the outside shower didn't work, it said it included toiletries and a kettle which it didn't and we had rats in the room
The staff were very friendly and the location was lovely.

Livonia was at reception desk and was able to organise the keys to the room despite our early arrival. Since I had my elderly parents in tow with me Lovina helped with luggage and breakfast. Since I wanted to go to Boeuma waterfall she organised a cab and filled us with details about activities we could do and costs associated with it. She with resort staff looked after mum and dad while I went to the waterfall with my daughter. Our Bure had a king bed and a double bed which was very comfortable. The room was clean and very neat. Thought the generator supplied electric from certain time we did not feel it. I was on throughout the night. Security was present on site also.

FijiThe photos on the internet are not recent or they have nice filters on them. The resort is very dated. The bathrooms are not overly nice. The pool doesn't look very inviting.
It was quiet and the front bures have amazing views. The breakfast options were good, but it should be noted that the restaurant is a seperate business from the hotel and so you pay seperately. It is within walking distance to some nice restaurants, dive centre and swimming beach. The staff will help organise transport for you
