Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOur actual room was cramped for space but the bed was comfortable.
The property included a wonderful fine dining restaurant with views over the old town & the ocean.

FranceI would have liked a more « local » experience at the restaurant. The dishes are very good and well cooked, it s just that there were no really local dishes on the menu.

SingaporeWe couldn't find any staff after 8 or 9pm. We don't know how to lock the room door, but couldn't find any staff to help. However as Faroe islands is safe, we didn't lock the room door that night.
The room and toilet are spacious and clean.

United KingdomAs it is so isolated, the restaurant prices are too high for what is served. The food is average, but portions are small for what is essentially very expensive prices. It’s about £40 for a plate of lamb with bone. The solution is to increase portions of quality ingredients (not just add more fries) or lower the costs.
The location is beautiful, rugged (the drive is phenomenal) and the beds are cosy. The staff in the evening were really friendly. We stayed in the annex and woke up in the morning to breathless views. The local town is quieter in September with dramatic hiking. If you are thinking of moving around whilst on the Faroe Islands, this is a good stop over. Breakfast was also generous with salmon and various buffet options. I like to eat a hearty morning meal and I left satisfied.

United StatesAfter arriving we decided to upgrade our room to the Annex as the rooms in the property felt a little like a dorm. The breakfast items could be topped up more quickly
It was very comfortable and the the inclusive breakfast was great. The additional cultural evening (only during summer months) was excellent.

PolandGood breakfast, although they seem to serve the very same, a bit limited thing every day. Which is not a big deal if you are there for just a couple days, but could be if you decided to stay there for a week.

United StatesNot being a morning person, 10a check was a bit early but I managed ;)
The guesthouse manager, Inga, was phenomenal! She personalized the service not just for me, but all the guests. She made certain we all felt welcome and whatever our needs were, were met. She even found a euro plug adapter for me for my devices after I managed to leave mine at an earlier hotel when I was in Iceland. I need to clarify, when I say “found” I mean while in the closest town ( at least an hour roundtrip) she picked one up for me ( of course I paid her for it). It was truly a critical need for me to be able to recharge my camera batteries. Let it be known too, USA to Euro adapters are difficult to find in standard places on the islands…but she knew of a place! The guesthouse’s location in Gjogv is beautiful and the dinners were exceptional ( even if a bit pricier than my preferred). In the end, it was so good that I felt the value and experience were well worth the few extra krona!

South AfricaOur room was very basic and utilitarian - no extra comfort or design. You could either sit on your single bed or a hard chair. I appreciate that there is probably a space issue but a guests lounge or bar would be a great addition. We were in the Annex - about 100m from the hotel - all the rooms are in a straight line so people walk past your little bedroom.
The most comfortable beds we slept on in the Faroe Islands - but we like soft beds. Nice to have some English TV channels as there is nothing to do in the evenings. Appreciated the hotel reaching out to us before our stay to ask us if we wanted to book dinner with them which we did. I'd advise you to do the same - the food was excellent, fairly priced and there is absolutely nowhere to get an evening meal in Gjov. The manager was so helpful and a very nice man. Breakfast was very nice - lots of choices and all lovely and fresh. Dining room staff were particularly helpful and pleasant.

SingaporeThe walls are a bit thin in the annexe building so in the evenings you can hear everyone talking and walking around but we were tired enough by the end of the day that it didn't bother us too much!
We stayed in the annexe which is a little further down from the main building, but what a view from the room!! Probably our favourite thing about this place. The annexe rooms are a bit basic, but comfortable and quite spacious. Great location too as it is just a short walk from the natural harbour where we found puffins! Breakfast was great, and we had dinner here one night and the food was amazing! You have to book dinner in advance though as they are quite popular.
