Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe breakfast was certainly lacking - especially for the cost.

United KingdomWas given a different room than the one booked but it’s fine as I would have preferred 2 beds rather than the suite with a sofa bed. The bathroom is newly refurbished but drainage is a bit slow for water to flow out. Parking is chargeable but you are also not able to leave your car on the property between certain hours so it may be better to park on the public street just about 50m away.
Great property in the middle of the village, location is spot on. The interior of the rooms are very homely and there is a lot of decorations of roosters and chickens! Overall an enjoyable stay.

MexicoBreakfast in the morning could have more cold cuts options ( were in Alsace!) the ham was not to fresh by the way and I understand you want to keep your payroll low and that’s why there’s only one employee working restaurant and reception but, you can help your personnel by: you need then to refill the breakfast area better ( bigger coffee pot, milk pot, juice, put enough sugar, put salt and pepper in all the tables, enough butter and different marrmelades) for 14 euros you can do much better and still make a profit out of it. You do everything very well, its a beautiful nice little very cozy place and to my eyes you diminish the experience on the last thing your guest are doing in your hotel. Also lady running the breakfast and reception could be a little more enthusiastic when saying goodbye. I work in hospitality also and the first and last impressions are very important.
Location, charm, clean, amenities overall a great stay

United StatesOur room was far smaller than any of those in the photos. It was warm and stuffy and had only a single window for ventilation, not the double and triple windows shown.
Nice quiet location. Friendly staff. The restaurant next door was incredible.

United StatesThe elevator was out of order. The stairs are very steep and shallow making them quite arduous to negotiate with even the smallest bit of luggage

United StatesThe steps up to the room from the hallway and down into the bathroom. Also, the dated bathroom smelled, but a candle remedied the situation. Additionally, it would have been good to know ahead of time to park outside the wall and walk to the hotel.
Just a bit off of the central street of Riquewihr. It is not accessible by car, however. Park at the lot just outside the entry to the town by the post office. It’s about a 3 minute walk. The streets are cobblestone so we only took our overnight bags to the room. It is a building from 1577. The room (I think #5) was charming. It was up a couple of steps up from the hallway and our bathroom was a couple of steps down from the bedroom, which was unique. The receptionist was very nice. Overall, it was a nice stay.

United KingdomThe lift was out of order. We had advised our arrival time and were told we had been allocated a room in the 2nd floor which we had accepted. However when we arrived we were given a room in the eaves on the top 3rd floor. That was very bad practice.

United KingdomDue to the age of the property there was no air conditioning but just a fan. The decor was quite gloomy and the bathroom had an unpleasant drain smell but was clean and modern.
Old fashioned charm right in the centre of town. Staff were so friendly and helpful, providing two single quilts instead of one when asked. Good value.
