How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

A shower curtain might have been nice so that the bathroom floor didn't get wet. Also tea/coffee making facilities weren't available.
Lovely breakfast with great jam selection! It was well located, a few minutes walk from the main basin. The bed was really comfortable. Secure Parking was available nearby (though at a 16euro cost).

I just missed coffee making facilities the room.to be fair they have them in reception, but it's nice to have that first cup before you start your day.
Everything was nice. Excellent location, delicious breakfast , attentive and helpful staff. 9 .5 out of 10 is a well deserved rating.

Excellent central location in the beautiful fishing village of Honfleur. Very friendly and helpful manager. Given a room upgrade on arrival. Very clean and comfortable room with a view over the small port. Secure paid parking available. Very good breakfast with personal service from staff.

Plugs, had to unplug side lamp to plug in phone
Room was charming, clean, fabulous spa bathroom, quiet and huge comfortable bed. Right on the harbour, a great location. Breakfast was absoloutly wonderful and the host was really helpful and friendly.

The restaurant adjoining, was rather expensive.
Brilliant little hotel! Full of history. Would certainly visit again and recommend. The welcome was amazing, as was the service throughout. Compact, but perfectly comfortable room with everything you could need and an excellent bathroom with spa bath, large shower and separate toilet. Delightful breakfast, not your ordinary hotel fare.

Perhaps the menu of the restaurant could be more family and kids friendly. The restaurant looked attractive but maybe more targeted to couples and gourmets than to families with kids.
We found Hotel L‘absinthe to be a charming place, cosy and with friendly and helpful staff. The building is historic but very nicely renovated. As a family with 3 kids we felt very much at home.

The décor is a little dated and the room overlooked the port. This meant the dustbin lorries and the delivery drivers arrived very early in the morning and woke us up.
Stayed in a large room overlooking the port. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space. Breakfast was excellent and nothing was too much trouble.

The signage and directions on how to find the hotel which is behind a L’Absinthe restaurant so confusing and difficult to locate. However once you do, you will not be disappointed
Beautiful old hotel with nicely appointed common areas. Rooms were very comfortable and extremely clean. The breakfast was delightful and the staff was amazing attentive

There was no elevator, so ilt was a struggle getting luggage up and down the stairs.
The hotel is wonderfully charming: a sixteenth century building that retains most of it's old world charm in a great loation in a town that constantly delights.

Location excellent as our room overlooked the port. Bathroom was large and beautifully clean. Staff were superb. The manager was kind and helpful. We will definitely stay there again. It is well worth upgrading.
