Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot very clean at the entrance way, very steep stairs, suggest only for younger people, no handrail. Bathroom a bit smelly and extractor fan didn't work. No kettle but at least three coffee machines! Just one mug for tea.
Comfortable and cheap.

Australia1. Worst bed ever had, - hard, foldout coach type bed, one of two feet of bed base was bent, and frame on left side was not attached to the bed frame. We slept with our feet hung out the bed. 2. Hot water only gets heated up after off peak time which it’s after midnight. We couldn’t have hot shower after a long day walk . Hot water had run out already and the hot water was very small only allowed us to have one shower. 3 our room was on 3rd floor, it was very steep and narrow and curved. One of two floors doesn’t have handrails or robes ( first floor got rob), the light of one floors wasn’t working, so it’s really difficult and seriously dangerous to get to the room with one hand to hold on your torch, plus no handrails to hold on, and have bags in your hands. If you are not fit and mobile, then it is a challenge to get to the room. 4. Longest WiFi passwords provided which was also incorrectly given. It’s Unnecessary complexity which PW was up to 40 plus characters!! 5. No hair dryer in the room ( only hair dryer menu in the cabinet)? 6. Instructions how to get to the room was very clear- didn’t tell us which the exact one was for our room, also use word SCRAMBLE the key pad after put keys back to its box was really confusing. - guess it’s frenchish?? 7, dirty pillows in the cabinet. There was any extra towels, and toilet paper. We had to use our own.
close to transport and attractions.

IrelandIn all my years of travelling, i never had to leave such a review, which saddens me really. The apartment was dirty. Food wrapping under the bed, dishes were dirty(sticky and food was still stuck on them) too, and I had to clean everything upon my arrival. Beds were extremely uncomfortable. The stairs to the apartment are a recipe for disaster. Am surprised there hasn't been an accident. The front door was extremely hard to open, and the window wouldn't close properly. The WiFi doesn't work, a must for me for my job! The TV has only one channel. There's a secret door in the apartment locked with a locker. I didn't feel safe in this accommodation and couldn't do my work (for which I need internet access). I ended up leaving 5 days before my due date. No partial refund was offered for compensation by the proprietor, and they had the cheek to email me to take out the trash today (5 days after I had notified them that i had left and had explained why and they hadnt offered any compensation). In all my years of travelling for business or leisure, I never stayed in such a bad apartment. If I had paid a little for this apartment, i could potentially understand the lack of cleanliness, the false advertisement, and the bad door, but the cost was high, and didn't reflect this apartment. However, I want to thank booking.com for their support as they were prompt and efficient in their support.
The coffee machine and the fact that it was close to my work. The help I received from booking.com

DenmarkThe description of the facility and the reality is different. No toilet paper, it seemed like it had only soap, a sheet with a hole and not clean (It was solved by buying it new one from IKEA). Possibly, kitchen staff need to be washed before using, like it was in my case. There are two chairs, and it is pretty dangerous to sit on them if you are heavier than 20 kg. It is going be challange to use a shower/toilet and kitchen. If you are taller than 190 cm, the ceiling height is about 200 cm in those areas. Be ready to climb upstairs. If you need to park your car, it will cost you 30 euros per day near the entrance, or use underground parking for 21.80 euros per day (3 minutes' walking distance).
Location is pretty good. Big size of bed.

ThailandThe host put up a wooden floor to cover the kitchen area. He called it a bedroom. However, no one could live in this room because the floor to ceiling height was only about 1.20 meter. You will have to lying down all the time. The shower door and the toilet bowl seat were very narrow. The staircase was very steep and narrow. You could not carry a luggage up to the room. All the photos showed on Booking.Com are very good and misleading anyone who sees them that this apartment is very well decorated and good functioning But the actual room is not like in the pictures. I believe that this apartment was not originally designed like this and many points of the modifications were against the City building’s codes.
It locked in the heart the old town that closed to the Christmas market. Good kitchen supplies

RussiaThe apartments are located 7 minutes from the train station, on a quiet street, next to the monoprix around the corner, a safe, quiet street. All shops are nearby. The apartments are very warm, cozy and clean. All kitchen utensils, stove, microwave, oven are all there. The first floor is very pleasing.
