How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Only issue we received a fine for parking our EV overnight. We were not aware of the restrictions, some warning signs would have been better

Shower clearly hadn’t been used for a while and there was a smell of drains that had got around the whole too
Great location and beds were very comfortable. Staff were also super helpful.

You shouldn't open the windows - the noise from the street would overwhelm. But the a/c system is good, and the noise insulation that the windows provide is excellent.
Modern hotel, easy to access. Friendly reception. Rooms have a good size. Bathroom nice and clean. Perfect for a quick stay in the area. Breakfast was a reasonable "Continental breakfast plus", meaning with scrambled eggs and bacon. At a sensational price - I paid 8 € if I am not mistaken.

The Akena group of hotels are wonderful. They really have got the model right. We have two small dogs and they are always welcome.

Reception staff was a little unfriendly this visit, usually they are very nice.
This was our third stay at Hotel Akena. It’s always so handy when we are travelling back to UK.

Bed was a bit too hard for my liking. Breakfast was ok but for the money I’d go to the bakery next door and pick up something fresh for 25% of the price.
Nice rooms, friendly staff. Convenient location. Plenty of parking. Quietest rooms I have ever experienced!

The bed was awful like concrete terrible night sleep . Light broken at bedside poor quality fixings.
Staff welcome was exceptional ! breakfast varied and good quality. Hotel was quiet . Every staff we spoke to smiled! Spoke cheerfully and enthusiastically! Fresh water also offered. Staff member even came to our room to suggest dinner options for town centre !

Nothing all was good

The coffee machine in the foyer was a nice touch but the quality wasn't good.
The location is excellent, close to the main road around Troyes. We arrived late, having come down from Calais after work. The staff were reasonably helpful on arrival. We didn't have breakfast but used a good local bakery, one road away, for a late morning stop.

Not really much to see or do within walking distance.
After a couple days in Paris this facility was top notch. The staff was very friendly and their recommendation for a restaurant was the best on our entire trip. A great place to stay.

Whilst on a minor point the toilet is separate to the bathroom in the bedroom but then you have to access the bathroom to wash your hands, so defeats the object of separate rooms

Great location not far really off the A26, clean, comfortable and modern rooms, secure parking, great breakfast buffet, staff helpful, good coffee and tea machine in reception to help yourself 24/7 and water machine.

The pillows on the bed were too small and uncomfortable. All the restaurants adjacent to the hotel were closed for some reason.
This hotel is out of town in an industrial area. It caters for business travellers. There is plenty of parking within a fenced area. Reception staff were very polite and courteous and checked us in very quickly. Our room was a good size on the second floor. A single lift provided access to all three floors. The bathroom was clean and well maintained, complete with shower and small sink. The toilet was in a separate cubicle which was also clean and functional. The large double bed was comfortable. Two armchairs were available in the room for watching TV or working. Breakfast was continental and very good.
