Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesSecond bedroom is a little dark but that's great for sleeping, no?
Private, gated property about 10 minutes by car from central Lyon, on an island in the river. Beautiful, old but newly remodeled. Our rooms included the extremely large and gorgeous loft area, probably 150 square meters in all. Very friendly and helpful owner. Up two flights of wide stairs, easy (no elevator).

United KingdomI can't think of a single thing that I did not like about this place and I would be very suspicious of anyone who can come up with anything that was wrong. We even had a choice of ordering breakfast or going out to eat. There is nothing to complain about with this property.
This location was amazing as the place itself as it is an old converted monastery. The rooms are beautiful, it's very safe (behind a keypad locked gate). Walking distance away from bus stops, amazing bakery across the street. The garden areas is also wonderful, very old and beautiful. The property manager was there to greet us, but her and the person who maintains the property were extremely friendly and helpful. We can't wait to return.

United Statesthe parking was a really great addition but took a lot of precision and some anxiety to use. I didn't love the large deposit I wasn't expecting and the restaurant recommended was quite terrible. having the dog be able to break out of the fencing was intimidating
very attentive host. great garden, though being told that their large dog would jump the fence if we went out was a bit scary. the bakery recommendation a short walk away was fabulous

United KingdomExcellent property with incredible history and character in a sublime location, with a delightful owner. We were so pleased to be here rather than a more generic hotel in Lyon. Beds were very comfortable indeed. Rooms backed onto the garden where we had a little table and chairs. We used the local bike hire service to bike 25 mins into the old town, a great experience. We swam off the island the following morning, before enjoying a second breakfast with some incredible pastries from the local boulangerie. Hugely characterful, go for it if you want something a bit more interesting.

Brazilif you have heavy luggage, you’ll struggle a little bit to get them upstairs. The blackout curtains of the couple room don’t seal the windows completely. Thus, if you want to sleep a little bit more and avoid the sunlight in the morning, you’ll have to fix the curtains on the wall somehow.
The loft is really cozy and fully equipped to accommodate a family. All the utensils are new and modern. the beds are very comfortable. The view of the place is amazing: it’s located in an island, in the middle of the Saône River. It also has a beautiful garden just beside the property, close to the river. The (paid) breakfast is delicious. The owners of the place are very helpful and friendly.

SwitzerlandThe shower was slightly small compared to the room. But no complaints. Monday and Tuesday morning we woke to squeaky noises of footsteps from the floor above. That was slightly annoying. Overall a good stay.
We had a lovely stay. Great host, the facilities were fantastic. A very well stocked Coffee and Tea station. Well equipped kitchen. Room decor, bed, heating everything was fantastic. There is a straight bus to the city centre.

United StatesWe rented a car so we could take day trips around Lyon. Without a car, it would have been much more difficult to get around and we never fully understood the public transit system. More information about how to use the Lyon metro or bus system would have been helpful because the Ile itself was wholly walkable. The Suites makes laundry available but some of our party would have liked more information about local laundromats or "wash and fold." At this time of year, the wonderful garden along the Soane was full of bugs, so we weren't able to enjoy it as much as planned. Suggestions would have been helpful, assuming the bugs would have listened.
We only had breakfast one day because the boulangerie within walking distance was so wonderful. We worried that the location outside of Lyon Centre in the 9th arrondissement would be too far for us to reach important sites. However, with a car, access to major tourist sites and restaurants was easy and took less than 20 minutes. Basically, we stayed along the Soane and had no trouble reaching the location. Eventually, we learned to find parking on the car GPS and it made our trips much easier. The Ile Barbe is a magical location like being in a woods outside a small town despite its location in the major city of Lyon. The 9th arrondissement had all of the amenities we required -- several pharmacies, several excellent restaurants, an excellent boulangerie (bread and patisserie), a fromagerie, and a well-stocked American-style grocery store. The Suites offered a lovely apartment with a large garden in back of the building, somewhat untamed but full of fruit trees and bordering the Soane. We wondered continually about the history of the property with a plain stuccoed back and a wildly carved late medieval/renaissance front facing the Soane. Was it a crypt or a destroyed Abbey chapel in the garden? Was the guard tower built to protect the Abbey landing? While we were there, work began on at least one other lodging in the old Abbot's house. It appeared to be a smaller apartment with wonderful arched ceilings. A creative architect seems to have been engaged to remodel the historic rooms to grand vacation apartments worthy of the lovely setting. We also enjoyed the small park near the entrance to the Ile and the music festivals on two Sundays that brought out families from the 9th arrondissement for picnics and play. Benedicte and her family were available whenever we had a question or needed additional supplies. We all agreed the Suites were a real find (though not inexpensive) and we would be lucky to find them available again if we revisit Lyon.

SingaporeThough there is no concierge, but since we arrived earlier than the check-in time from the train staion, the owner got to the property specially from office to open a space for us to store the luggages. The ower couple is so nice throughout our staying. The living room is greatly gorgeous. I also like the toilettes, as the towals are soft and new, even the toilet paper is with highest quality. Super recommend to my friends.
