Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIts a little bit on the expensive side but I suppose you get what you pay for.
This was the second time I have stayed at the hotel, it is very comfortable and the evening meal was superb. Breakfast choices were made online the night before and the items we chose were of good quality. I would stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

United KingdomAbility to have some simple food for diner would have been nice as booking 24 hours in advance is not always easy (maybe a few pasta dishes or salad for example - or similar form as the breakfast form for diner as I forgot to ordered on time for last night given I was back at the hotel after 8pm the previous night)
Breakfast were nice quality and quantity, and very conveniently delivered to the room at the time we woke up each of the 3 days we spent at the hotel We had previous stayed at Issoire but quality of Chabanettes hotel is not comparable so we'll come back The children liked the video game on the TV and helped mum get ready more quietly meanwhile

NetherlandsWe stayed in the family room which was one of the best we stayed in. The beds were very very comfortable and my children liked to play on the Sega computer. As dinner we had the tapas menu and it was great. The breakfast was very good too. All in all we had a very pleasant overnight stay!

FranceWe are neither of us technically handicapped but we felt it in this hotel:-) The level of technology, slightly exceeded expectations and a request to order breakfast on line somewhat detracts from the personal service that we received in other ways. We weren't sure where to eat on our second night and decided to eat in again but our dinner booking for 2 which we tried to make mid morning for the same evening was refused because there were insufficient provisions for two extra people for dinner. I feel that this was an indication that the hotel is run by strict technical processes by which the guests needed to abide, and which in a small hotel in the mountains is not what we really expected. As an X hotelier, I know that meeting guests expectations is vital so I believe that there is an adjustment to make in this respect and the owners could make themselves a little more flexible and adaptable to their guests who don't know their systems and slightly rigid processes.
Guest welcome and support with luggage on arrival much appreciated! Lovely atmosphere and rooms were as we expected, clean and well presented. Dinner was particularly good and service very accommodating in a large dining room with cosy lit fire. Breakfast was ordered the previous evening and served in the room and on time; all cool and fresh with some dairy free bonuses for me - thank you!

PortugalThe owners run the hotel. They do not seem to have any staff, none were visible. As a result of this they have processes that are pretty rigid and if you are not aware of them or were hoping for something different, the owners become stressed - you can see it in their face. We booked dinner a few days before our arrival. We did not know that it was a fixed menu, my wife cannot eat cucumber or courgette - it is a minor thing that rarely has an impact on any restaurant. We shared this information when we arrived, there was a rush to the kitchen and checks were made and we were assured that neither were included in the menu. What followed was a short lecture on how they had sent and email at the time of booking (several months previously) asking for food intolerenaces. This may well be the case. We had actually booked dinner a few days previously and no mention was made of dinner being a fixed menu and we did not recieve a request for food intolerances. We were tired from 6 hours of driving and asked to have our key so that we could get ready for dinner. We were told that they had, recently, sent us an online form to order our breakfast and it must be completed by 8pm, to do so we would need to log on to the wifi and download the form, complete it and then submit it. We checked in at about 7pm, after a very long drive, with an hour for check-in, shower, do paperwork for breakfast and have dinner at 8pm. I hated this rigidity, there was no paper option to run through at reception or once we got to the bar ... online or nothing. The meal was good and reasonable value. The chef/owner appeared and sought praise from the diners by sharing how long dinner had taken to prepare. We found this very odd, the meal was good but not overly complicated. Salmon mousse, beef casserole, cheese, poached pear.
Stunning location. Food is good. Room is comfortable. Reasonabale value for money.
