Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomProper youth hostel vibes - which I liked but not for everyone, and in male dorm of 8 (not full)an idiot gets up at 6.45am and noisily rearranged his suitcases for about 20 mins. Not the places fault it’s just to be aware. Also bring your own towel
Lovely old building out of town, amazing view across the city. Better reached by bus (5min walk) metro great but a good 15+minutes walk uphill, so not best option if returning after a long day ( or raining)

BrazilThe only downside is the location. I, for one, don't mind it not being in the center as long as it's close to a station. With maps, it shows thag the hostel is within 6 minutes of walking from a metro station, but that is actually a shortcut going by the park, which is closed in the evening. Since on my first day it was past 19h and I didn't know anything, the park was closed and I had to take a whole detour and ended up walking for 20 minutes and had to ask for local help to get there. It felt a bit dangerous walking alone at night there. The 2nd day I didn't wanna risk it even if I had already come back at 18h, so I went through another route instead (I took the metro and bus and left in the other side of the main entrance, that only made me walk 8 minutes, much metter than before), but maps doesn't show that route. In the end, it's up to the park being open and what route you wanna take. Other than that, I have nothing to complain. It really is only a bit difficult to get there. As I shared a room, it was difficult to sleep because of the people there (typical hostel thing) but the beds were comfortable.
The staff was really nice and polite. The price is really good and the breakfast was also good. The kitchen is spacious and you can use it to make your meals which is really convenient.

United KingdomThere was a street market on the grounds that was being set up from 6 a.m. on Sunday morning. In the quietness of the area, and with the window wide open the discussions could be heard clearly in the dorm. I had to get up at this time anyway so it was not a problem for me.
I was only here for about 6 hours, sheets were provided and the dorm was clean. The bathroom is shared, and the shower and toilets are all lockable.

TaiwanFar from the city center, but relatively safe area. The entrance is not easy to access. The customers varied a lot. There were locals and young adults from other countries which were very nice, but also some strange people lived there and made the environment dirty and noisy. There were also kids playing at the hall or outside. During the day it was fine but sometimes during the night.
The staff was really nice. The room and bathroom are clean. Safe neighborhoods. The restaurant is a good place to mingle. I made good friends there. The lobby is pretty.

EstoniaThe room had no AC and got quite hot during the day. It wouldn't have been a problem if my room wasn't located directly above the garden, where people played games and chatted in the evening. Closing the window would have meant no air in the room, but sleeping with it open was difficult.
Although it was far from the center and the main attractions, the area the hostel was in seemed safe and quiet, which made the hostel a nice place to relax, especially in the evening (the sunset was beautiful from the garden). The linens were clean, but the mattress had a few stains. Overall, the bed was quite comfortable. There was a well-equipped kitchen, but unfortunately, it was a mess due to the other guests. I would have loved to see a separate box or something similar for the free food, as there were a few instances where someone mistook someone else's food for the free food. The room had spacious lockers. The breakfast, although quite simple (consisting only of some baguette, eggs, jam, butter, coffee and juice) was a nice little touch. The staff was helpful and kind.
