Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomJust be wary if you can’t or have difficulty climbing stairs, steep staircase to room. Not a problem for us.
Everything was great. Lovely, big, modern,comfortable, clean room. Having a small fridge was a big bonus. On site restaurant was great, very French, mountain cuisine or pizza. Very convenient to motorway yet quiet country feel.

The room was stylish and comfortable. Great food in the restaurant. When we were eventually allowed to check in the host was charming and arranged for us to have a drink before the strict opening time of 7pm for the redtaurant / bar. Lovely walk around the nearby lake.

United KingdomThe room had to be accessed from an outside metal staircase which was a bit hairy to negotiate after the earlier rain. The general outside looked scruffy and tired but for one night, this was acceptable.
Travelling by car from Spain, the property was very close to the A75 on which we were heading North to Calais. On approach the property did not look too inspiring but the room was exactly as photographed. The facilities appeared to be very new. Underneath was a great restaurant with truly plentiful French cuisine served promptly and professionally. On the same night, it seemed that most of the local area were hungry too but also appreciated the service, value for money and quality of the food. Despite being close to the road, the location was very quiet and nothing disturbed our stay.

United KingdomUnexpectedly we were required to give a 200euros deposit against damages at check in - which is not mentioned in the statement of policies and which we have never been asked for in any other booking.com hotel! Access to either of the rooms offered was via flights of outdoor metal staircases which for us were unlit. On reporting that the lights were not working we were told firmly that they were automatic!
Very convenient to the motorway, very comfortable and well equipped room. Good restaurant, close, free parking.

United KingdomWe arrived 15 minutes earlier than planned and there was no one at the property. When someone arrived, they said "17.30" and we had to wait to be let in. Bit strange. I had to pay on arrival and also pay a €200 deposit, which will apparently be refunded. But there was no departure process, in fact we could only hand over the key to the cleaner. I would have felt more comfortable and confident if the deposit and been cancelled (annulled) in my presence, at check-out.
Room was nice and quite a surprise given the building and immediate surrounds. Dinner was good.

FranceA warning to anyone with difficulties with stairways: the room was up TWO flights of STEEP steps. Nevertheless, the receptionist was very accommodating and carried our suitcase up all the way. The same receptionist made a mistake with our credit card (which had been used as a payment guarantee) and had DEBITED the card, so we were called upon to help fix the situation at midnight when we returned from a dinner party. Everything was straightened out, but it was not the best conclusion to our festive evening. The location of the hotel/restaurant is in a surprisingly quiet location, given that it is very close to the highway and the highway exit. But as a result, don’t imagine walking back to/from dinner in town, as the highway proximity plus the distance (3 km) completely excludes this option.
The room was pleasant, comfortably big, remodeled, with a functional shower area, good bed, and quiet.
