Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandRemember to bring earplugs and a sleep mask if you are a light sleeper. Birds outside made some noise (not much though) and the curtains don’t block all the light.
Lovely personal B&B in the city centre! The host is super lovely and helpful, she really takes care of the visitors. She had upgraded my room and prepared me a vegan breakfast and gave helpful advice for my visit. Rooms are cute and A/C and Wi-Fi worked well. Lovely views from the balcony. The B&B is just opposite to the railway station which was nice and it was easy to find. Late arrival was no problem, I got a code and good instructions to get the key and to find my room.

United StatesThe stairs but we were aware of it. We also agreed to switch to the third level to accommodate other patrons. We carry backpacks so there was not concerns those with heavy luggage may find it difficult to climb.
Location and the host, of course we can not forget the cats! Caroline was wonderful and her recommendations for sightseeing and eating was spot on.

New ZealandI was fine with it, but the staircase is entirely what you’d expect in such a building … but some may not. It’s steep, tall, and not so well lit at night. Totally not for limited mobility folk. After dark return home I was okay climbing stairs but did need my phone torch to negotiate the key - keyhole interaction. Update: It appears that my comment concerning the stairwell lighting is misguided. I had just failed to notice / use the timer switch setup that was there. Perhaps I should add another 'pro' up above: "Tolerant of idiot tourists from New Zealand". Irrespective, it's a great little place to stay.
Close to St Charles railway station Lovely owner / concierge … very capable in English Air conditioning Great shower with good water pressure … a small thing, but it brings great joy to a traveller Easy walking to lots of interesting eating and tourism locations Quirky, interesting older style B&B.

United StatesNarrow, steep stairs to the bedrooms. Would be hard to manage luggage though Owner was very helpful with accomplishing that.
Room was small, but adequate; nicely furnished, and quiet. Breakfast was good every morning though the same. The Owner/Manager was very helpful and friendly. The location was very convenient to the train station; was able to walk to the Port as all downhill. Some Questionable neighborhoods getting there. Best to take Metro back. Nice Bakery next door to B & B.

United StatesIt was a bit hard to find on a small street. Just a small sign on the door. A better location description and/or directions would have helped us (and our taxi driver).
Was near the center of old Marseille within easy walking distance of the old port. Right across the street from the train station. Proprietor was very friendly, accommodating and helpful. Very secure. Good breakfast included in the price.

Australiaif you could have
We liked everything about this well-run chic B&B. The decor, the ambience, the comfortable bed, the excellent shower, the wonderful breakfasts and the helpfulness and friendliness of Caroline, the owner-manager who really cares about her guests. The most memorable hotel that we have stayed in for a while. For the traveller arriving and departing by train it is but a few steps away from the main railway station, St Charles. (Note that the guest rooms are on many floors, and there is no lift so it may be a consideration for those with mobility issues. You could always check before booking if 'our' room on level 1 is available!)

The hostess is very friendly and helpful. It felt like we were in our own home. Breakfast was awesome and ideal place to meet the other people also staying in B&B. Variety of cereal, bread and spreads plus unlimited coffee/tea/juice. The decor in this venue is truly extraordinary. Across the street from train station makes it ideal for using the metro plus travelling to/from Marseille. Close to restaurants.
