Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumKettle for tea/coffee in the room would have been nice, light is quite cold. Plant milk for breakfast would be nice, ideally oats.
Room with double bed was functional and ok, no kettle for tea/coffee but machine downstairs, very calm, no street or other noises, curtains closed nearly fully. Breakfast included egg and fruits.

FranceThe staff at breakfast was somewhat aggressive in their way of checking that guests having breakfast had booked for breakfast. In fact, I saw them behaving rudely to another guest.

AustraliaI bookjed the hotel becuase I wanted private car parking .Parking was not clear as to how to access that. The hotel could have sent an email with instructions and an access code which would have made it easy. They did not. For a person new to driving in Lyon this was a stressful place to get to and then I had to work out the parking. No instructions forwarded about how to access the parking that is offered. I was fortunate to get street parking for a large car a walk away. A miracle as the street was packed with cars. When I phoned the receptionist couldnt help me. So the oarking access and offer needs a lot more work from the hotel to make this work. Next, I had to wash my haior, There was no hair dryer offered in the room which is a basic service ofered by all accommodations. Surely you are not cust cutting to that degree? So in the morning on a cold autumn rainy mroning I had to go out with wet hair. Embarassing and uncomfortable. And there was no kettle to make a cup of tea. After a long drive, that's all I wanted to do. MAke myself a tea and relax for half an hour.
The room was comfortable. Good shower, tv and practically laid out.

NetherlandsThe atmosphere is that of a prison hospital. They advertise with Citè Internationale, but that's a good kilometer walk away on the other side of the Rhone. The center of Caluir et Cuire is a good half hour walk uphill. Rue St. Claire is dull to say the least and eating facilities are of the amateur type.
Rooms have everything you need. Great shower. Comfy bed. General sense of cleanliness.

BelgiumThe breakfast was very basic. Extremely limited cold cuts (ham and 1 type of cheese); no toast; not the best french bread; and one morning the coffee machine had issues. The Pain au chocolat and croissants were ok though + there were 2 tipes of regular bread slices. Serviceable but nothing more. The Wifi worked fine, but not super high speeds (though due to the conference probably a lot of users), and a bit of a hassle to log into.
The Airco was working very well (not a given anymore), and I liked the very functional bathroom (excellent shower). The bed was on the hard side, which I prefer, but might not be for everyone.

AustriaIt is not that quiet at night, you can hear people talking in the corridor or closing their doors, it could be heard very loudly and wake you up. The hotel has a garage, but before accessing it you have to check in first. There is no reserved place in front of the hotel to place the car temporarily before you check in, and it is difficult to find a place on that street. You cannot take the elevator from the garage, it doesn't work with a provided code and you have to take all your luggage to the ground floor using the stairs.
The location is very good, you can reach the nice big park in 10 minutes and stops of the public transport are near the hotel. The room was clean and had an air conditioner. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Switzerlandthe strong smell in the room, not a good one. The elevator code not working from the parking (so impossible to reach the hotel), and the exit door from the parking which requires to ring a bell to be opened. The main door to leave the parking with the car: the code didn't work and there is no interphone to contact the reception (someone told me that they removed it). I had to wait that a car leaves (from the Ibis hotel), to be able to leave the parking at the same time.

SwitzerlandThe room we were given smelled a lot of tobacco, although it was indicated it was a non-smoking room. The location is quiet, but ventilation is noisy.
The hotel is very close to the international exhibition, it is possible to go by foot, it just takes 15 minutes. There are several restaurants in the international exhibition. The area is quiet.
