Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe main bedroom which has a superb view, has its double bed against the wall so not ideal for whoever gets the inside space if they need to get up in the middle of the night!
As the caption says, amazing view, but not just of Carcassonne, the view of the Pyrenees is incredible too! Rooms are clean and as expected for the price are great for families. There is plenty of space and even a little garden off the kitchen. The walled city is a ten minute drive or actually a very enjoyable 45 minute walk. Whilst the main town has a lovely square with plenty of restaurants within a 15 minute walk.

United KingdomSmelt a little musty when we arrived and the beds could have been a bit more comfortable.
Wonderful and very helpful host, beautiful view of the city. Great to have a garden as we brought our dogs with us. Well equipped kitchen with everything that we needed.

Breakfast was 2 small cartons of orange juice, 2 yoghurts, 2 bread rolls, 2 pats of butter, 2 individual tubs jam, 2 croissant and 2 pastries. We enjoyed it and it was plenty for breakfast. There was also a coffee maker. We were also very appreciative of the lift to the airport on the day we left and our host would not accept any money from us, that was very kind!

BelgiumThe beds are not very comfortable to sleep in. It is old bedding with thin mattresses. The airco-unit is a remote one that is only active in the living room and with very low result.
It was close to the city center. It had a marvelous view on the old city. Which was only 5 min drive from the house. It was nicely decorated. Very authentic.

United KingdomPerfect hideaway apartment in a rustic house just out of the city centre, 10 mins from station and canal. Johan lives in the house above, and was a perfect host - there when needed (printed off my boarding pass - thanks!) but otherwise unobtrusive. Just what I needed - place to myself for an Autumn getaway, with fabulous view over the old medieval city on the other side of the valley. Great base for a few days' walking, eating, and drinking. The Canal du Midi and Aude river are great for longer or shorter walks, and although quieter than in Summer, most of the bars and restaurants were open.

United KingdomOr party included an elderly woman who immediately knew that it wasn’t suitable for her. The steps were precarious, there was no door on one of the bedrooms and the property didn’t look well cared for, even accounting for its age. In the end, we declined to stay and moved on elsewhere. The owner was understanding and friendly.
Location was fine, and the view over Carcassonne was spectacular. Property owner very friendly.

FranceNot suitable for older or elderly travellers. Steep stone steps to and inside the property . Distance from the bedroom to the bathroom at night . Large canvases stored around the rooms , The oven was extremely dirty , (as pointed out by a previous customer ,and still not cleaned ) There would be a 40euro charge for cleaning if you were unable to strip beds and sweep out the apartment . This was not shown on the initial booking page with Booking.com There is no on site parking , or the road it is on , the only parking is on the main road. Again , this is not mentioned on the booking page .and for us would have been a definite no from the start.
Pleasant host , lovely dogs . I would call the property quirky , very shabby chic . The art on the walls was interesting.

United KingdomLow beds. Untidy external areas. Would have liked on site parking but the street parking was always available near the property. The rear of the property could be turned into an exceptional area to relax and dine, the view of the Castle is the best part of the properties offering. The gardens could be developed to allow guest to relax whilst taking in the view and it wouldn't take much to turn this property into a 9.5 in all aspects.
The property needs a little TLC. In the main it is most suited to younger travelers, low beds, and those of an arty persuasion. The host was great and helpful, he has a lot of art work scattered over the property. I would urge him to tidy up the court yard as it gives a poor first impression. Idealy suited to those who live a bohemian lifestyle, they would find the property querky enough to please. Kitchen well supplied with the necessary equipment and all in all it was adequate for our needs at a price which was value for money.

United KingdomWe didn't have breakfast due to leaving early. The location was close to the railway station but in a very quiet location. The views over Carcassonne and the old city were stunning. Lovely gite with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Quaint , rustic and homely. There's a amazing boulangerie and charcuterie 2 minutes from the gite which has everything you need.

SpainThe cleaning was not acceptable and the apartment looked sort of abandoned. The surroundings as well. There was a lack of intimacy given that the landlord lived just upstairs and we could hear all his steps as well as his dogs. We found no bugs but certainly the apartment could have been a good place for them to live. There was dirt and dust everywhere you looked. Contrary to what was announced in Booking, there was no shampoo nor hand soap. The toilet was upsetting as well.
The views were good and the living room was comfortable.
