Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesWe didn't have any soap when we made it to our room. Our beds were made but the bathroom was not cleaned. There was an old bandaid on the shower wall.
I thought it was very comfortable. Beautiful room in the corner and excellent location. The staff were nice and loved the 24/7 front desk.

I booked this room for just one night for its proximity to the Metro (visible from our balcony) & Montparnasse train station (5 min walk) as we were leaving early the next morning. We were pleasantly surprised by just how helpful the staff were and the fantastic location for restaurants etc. (Highly recommend Vache Comptoir just around the corner for exceptional food, kind staff & fair prices.) The room was small (it's Paris) but very comfortable and clean -- and we had a great view. The balcony windows opened to let in light, fresh air and Parisian ambiance which was a great bonus. Our room was ready earlier than expected which was greatly appreciated after a long flight. We had troubles with the shower and the front desk clerk did not hesitate to come right up to our room to help. We returned to Paris later in the week and very much regretted not returning to the Berkeley for that longer stay.

United StatesThe room has a very old carpet. When you first come in, the room deodorizer smell just hits you. I wonder if it’s because there are moths flying around and the hotel wants to eradicate them? In any case, it can be easily mediated by opening the window and airing the room for a few minutes.
Centrally located, very kind staff, the room is small, but super functional and clean. AC functions well. I had access to a small balcony for the smokers.

PanamaThe air conditioner wasn't working that well, sometimes it was cool and other times way hotter, even though I kept the same temperature. Room a bit too small to what I thought it was going to be.
Overall, location wise, it is a great hotel. If you are looking for just a place to stay at night mostly this is perfect as it is located close to many main attractions and there is a station like 2 minutes away and a main station like 5-7 minutes away. Also, many restaurants close by.

IrelandNo tea making facilities. Also would have been nice to have shampoo, conditioner and body lotion, as these things awkward to bring on airplane. Our room was on the sixth floor, so no lift for the last floor.
Excellent location and obliging staff. We were able to leave in our bags early, and also leave them for a few hours after checking out. Local area good for restaurants and a fresh food market, and Rive Gauche walkable if you felt inclined. Montparnasse railway station very handy for going to Versailles.

GermanyI would expect a kettle in the room for preparing a coffee or tea. The entrance situation of the hotel could be more designed, more updated in order to create a more inviting atmosphere.
The check-in was quick and easy. The location is perfect for travellers to the Gare de Montparnas and as well to find good restaurants around. The streets nearby are full of atmosphere. The room was totally ok and the bathroom very suitable in size.

United KingdomUnfortunately I found two dead months on the bed on arrival. One of the curtains was hanging off the rail and the there was some mould on the excess sealant in the bathroom. The room did not smell fresh and the pillow did not smelt bad.
The location was very close to the metro. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The room was quiet but unfortunately there was noise from construction works in the morning.
