Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

PortugalWe had a lovely fireplace, inside it there were layers and layers of dust. The bathroom door did not provide much privacy and was difficult to slide. We could hear the dripping water from the heater constantly and if anyone arrived on the lift it made a banging noise that could be heard on the entire floor.
The location and the kindness of the staff. We could leave our bags before we checked in. The reception was open 24/7 so we could check out before or departure at 6h45.

IrelandHotel rather dated, needs modernisation. Very small shower cubicle. Soap/shampoo dispenser were not replenished during our stay. Bathroom door didn't close (door doesn't fit a frame). Fridge was broken (door fell off).
Great location, close to many restaurants, cinemas, theatres, Montparnasse Tower. Just few steps from 3 metro stations and Montparnasse train station. Friendly reception staff, very comfortable bed, clean bed linen and towels. Towels changed daily. We were able to leave our bags before our room was ready as we arrived early.

New ZealandI found the desk staff to be on the rude side and not to approachable. Four times I was asked about my booking with them questioning how many people were staying in my room and that I had paid for two not three. My sister was the third staying in a different room.
This property was a great location with the metro at the end of the street. The night worker Frezi ( I think was his name) was the kindest and most helpful of all the workers there.

New ZealandThe staff questioned us more than once about how many people were staying in rooms. There were 3 of us, 2 in one room that was booked at a seperate time to my single person room. Even after I left after 3 nights, my sister was asked again, and they thought there was still 3 people staying. Another time MY room price had been written down and my sister was questioned about it being paid?? She said I had paid it, I arrived at the counter and asked if there was a problem. We were told no problem. So why all the questions! We quickly left for our day out after that. Our key cards kept getting taken off us and there was a language barrier to getting them back. The front counter person didn't count in English, which I thought would have been essential in terms of communication with travelers at least.
The location is great. Close to 3 metro stations and a shopping mall. Plus many types of food shops in the region. It's obviously an old building done up and it was very clean. Shabby chic. Rubbish was removed every day and the bed straightened and towels replaced ; good service from the cleaners. Nothing else was touched. The balcony has a small view of the top of the Eiffel tower and it's revolving light. Overall I liked my stay, the room was very warm. No street noise. Close to amenities.

South AfricaThe bedroom was a bit small, no blow-dryer which was a bit disappointing. No coffee of Tea. The shower curtain needs to be replaced by a door please, quite annoying when you shower and it gets stuck to you the whole time. The heating system also needs an upgrade as you could hear running water the whole time.
We arrived a bit early for our check in at 15:00pm, but they had our room ready at 13:00pm, which was great as it was raining and quite cold. The Location was amazing, close to Metro and a lot of restaurants. The bedroom was small, however nice, clean and warm.
