Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI was truly delighted by Chalet Hôtel La Sapinière. I wanted to find a reasonably priced hotel that was close to a lift, close to ski buses, an easy walk to downtown Chamonix, and with an amazing view of the mountains. Chalet Hôtel La Sapinière was absolutely perfect. It has that wonderful casual feeling that you don't find in a corporate hotel (I especially loved the cubby boxes where you drop off your key when you go out for the day). Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful, especially Mandy (sorry if I'm getting the name wrong). She gave me directions and bus schedules, found an extra pair of gloves when ours went temporarily missing, and helped cancel a lunch reservation when our group was having trouble meeting up for lunch. We had a triple room that was small but comfortable. I didn't mind the size because it had floor to ceiling windows with an astonishing view of the mountains. One warm day we had lunch on the balcony. I appreciated the kettle for making tea. The bathroom was newly renovated. The boot warming room and ski storage room were very convenient. We enjoyed reserving the jacuzzi for after dinner. Breakfast was delicious, in a very large, beautiful room. It wasn't a huge selection, but everything was excellent, especially the croissants and bread. There were concerts in the lobby bar two nights we were there -- people seemed to be enjoying themselves. The nursery slope lift wasn't open in late March (no snow!), so my plans of walking to the lift or skiing back were foiled. You could probably walk to the Planpraz gondola, serving Brevent, but the bus stop is literally in front of the hotel, and it seemed to come every five minutes. The bus stop for other ski areas was only a block away. The hotel is just off a main street, with plenty of shops and restaurants within a few blocks. If you don't like a quirky old building, this isn't the place for you. But I hope to be back!

ItalyThe coffee and the absence of a fridge in the room.
It is a well taken care of hotel, in a beautiful and superb location: walking distance form the pedestrian area of Chamonix, but quiet with a view on the paraglider’s landing area and on the mountains. Parking on the premises. Ski and separate boot room, lovely sunny lounge with nice drinks, i loved the vin chaud. My room was at the top and it was a spacious and cosy room with a beautiful view. Everyone was very helpful and kind and they went out of their way to help me when i hurt my knee and had limited mobility. The hotel has personality: please don’t change it!

United StatesA little far from the city center if you’re feeling lazy. But if you’re not, it’s a nice walk without being too close too close to the loud apres scene.
Service was absolutely amazing. Every one who served or helped was very helpful and very friendly. No one made me feel bad about asking too many questions. I was able to get a lot of information about how conditions might be for the next day and where to ski based on the likelihood of lifts being closed. Also, super helpful with getting information on which buses to take to go where. Best part is that right in front of the property is a bus stop that will take you to Brevent. Barely need to walk. Additionally, there is a ski rental shop just down the street.

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff. We loved the mountain view from our room and whilst having breakfast. It felt very quiet as it was slightly out of the main town area, but just 1 bus stop to the main ski lift. A perfect stay and we hope to return!

United KingdomThere was nothing I did not like….it is a very quiet hotel which serves breakfast only. There is a bar on site but it is a very short walk into town to all the bars and restaurants for the evenings or lunch.

IsraelThe hotel was about 10 minutes' walk from the city center.
The hotel was nice and cozy and had a good vibe. One of the evenings there was a singer at the bar. The outside jacuzzi was fun, although you had to brave into the cold in order to get to it.

United KingdomGreat location not far from Brevent/ flegere although we drove 5 mins to Les Grand Montets every day. Breakfast was great and the rooms were excellent, at least as good as any 4 star hotel we've had in Chamonix. Bathroom was fresh and lovely, much better than 4 star hotels we've been in in Chamonix. Staff were friendly and helpful. Outdoor hot tub a big hit along with the sauna. All round excellent hotel, we will be back.

United KingdomFabulous hotel. The staff, Mandy, Pascal and Will are absolutely amazing and can not do enough to help you. Nothing was too much for them and they bent over backwards for us. The location is excellent, we were a mixed age group and the location meant that everything was walking distance. From google maps it looked quite far out, but that is definitely not the case. The bus stop is right outside the hotel, and if there is snow in the village you can ski right to the front door. Could not fault this hotel!
