How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Just perfect! I never do surveys, but my host fed me, loaned me her duck tape and umbrella, and more. Quite an adventure, I'd love to return :) Magnifique!

I hadn’t realised the room was in the owner’s home but what a lovely, friendly, helpful person. Location was fantastic near the harbour and old town and restaurants and transport. A good stay. Thank you

Chris is a wonderful hostess in her very comfortable and clean home. Walking distance to olde port. Close to bus/metro/parking and Port. She happily spent the time to make us welcome and provide us with lots of local information. A real gem in Marseille.

Nothing not to like.
Great Location and Clean and Neat. She is a excellent host always there to help and assist with tips. I was allowed to drop my bags earlier and leave them the day of check out. She offered me coffee in the morning and even when I came back to collect my bags again. She knows alot about the city and glad to assist where she can

Nice apartment with great amenities, room very comfortable with lovely touches. Fabulous location at a very reasonable price. Chris was a superb host, giving us lots of information and recommendations on things to do and see around Marseille. We loved our stay and hope to go back one day! :-)

Great location with restaurants and sights right on the doorstep. The host was very welcoming and did her best to talk us through her recommendations around the city even though we don't speak french.

Everything. Mrs Chevallier is an excellent host, she will help you in all possible aspects. I had back pain during my visit and she even offered to help. She is friendly and willing to support even when she speaks a little bit of English.the location is fantastic. 100% recommended

The owner! Chris is a lovely lady! She told everything about the places of interest in the quartier of Panier and in Marseille in general. She gave all the details about the city transport and how to travel cheaply. The flat is highly recommended for a travelling couple.

The proprietor is welcoming and warm. She offered me a drink on arrival, coffee early morning and yet was discreet and respectful of my space too. Her efforts to make the environment delightful and in keeping with its location were much in evidence - model boats and other details, and information, maps etc, readily to hand. I really appreciated this kind of detailing.

There can be small improvements like lock for the room and the toilet.
The host :-) She was very positive and helpful. I only hoped we could communicate in the same language... The google translate was not so efficient. The location is also very good.

This was the best place which I have ever booked via booing.com. The room was very luxurious and the whole property had a lot of French charm. Chris was very helpful and cordial. The flat is located in the heart of the old city. The atmosphere was very magical. I think Chris has a very sofisticated taste, this is why her flat is highly recommended. I will be back.

Madame, who owns this place, is charming! She advised us with the best options for visiting Marseille. Madame is always positive, open-minded and doing her best to make your stay comfortable! In addition, she was very flexible in terms of hours of check-in and departure and offered us a nice apple juice :)

Although this is not big negative, considering you still have all the privacy you need, but it is important to note that the apartment is shared with the host.
Extremely friendly host, comfortable and clean room. Location is perfect. Will come back without a doubt
