Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomVery clean, recently refurbished. Everything that you need is there. Very cosy. The property is also a 2 minute walk to La Planpraz ski lift which is perfect and from there you can ski le Brévent and Le Flageure. It is also very convenient as you’re and 5 minute walk into the centre of chamonix.

United StatesThe only thing we wished we had was a fan. We were there in the middle of summer, so it got hot during the day, and it would have been nice to have some air flow to blow cool air in at night. We had a hot week, though, so probably normally it is the perfect temperature.
This property was absolutely amazing and perfect for an active couple or solo traveler staying in Chamonix. Margaux was out of town when we stayed here, so her mum, Sylvie, picked us up from the bus stop and took us to the apartment. She showed us how to get in, how everything worked in the apartment, and had local beer for us in the fridge. Sylvie picked us up when we left and drove us back to the bus stop. I was originally hesitant to book this property since it had only a pull-out sofa bed, but this was the most comfortable bed we slept in during our travels. It is a small studio apartment with everything you need. The kitchen is fully stocked with great equipment, and we were able to cook several times here. We left the bed pulled out the whole time, and it was still easy to get around to the balcony and sit at the counter. Everything in the apartment is new and obviously recently re-done. It was very thoughtfully designed from the mountain woodwork on the walls, lighting, and blackout curtains. The location is perfect. You do have to walk down and back up a steep hill to get to town, but that feels normal for Chamonix, and for someone active, it is not difficult. The walk to the middle of Chamonix is 5-10 minutes, depending on where you go, and one of the gondolas is a block away from the apartment. Margaux provides bus passes with the apartment. I'm not sure if that is common in Chamonix, but it allowed us to jump on the busses to get all over the valley for hiking. It is about a 5-8 minute walk to the closest bus stop. We will try to stay here again when we come back! We loved everything about Margaux's place!

United KingdomWe booked the apartment thinking it had one bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge but it is a studio apartment so there is no bedroom just a sofa bed in the room.
The owner was absolutely lovely. She came and picked us up from the bus station and dropped us off at the apartment, and also gave us lots of advice on places to visit. She also picked us up and dropped us off at the 2nd place we were staying at. Which we were really grateful for. Was such a lovely lady. The apartment was really clean and had everything we needed. The location was really good only about a 10 min walk from the tourist information office. You do need to walk up a hilly street to get to the apartment which might not suit some people. Would highly recommend this place. Was very reasonably priced accommodation.

IndiaThere was a freak power outage throughout Chamonix for 1-2 hours very early in the morning. A torch or candle would have been handy.
Margaux and her mom Sylvie are kind, thoughtful people who goes out of their way to make guests welcome and comfortable. The property is very conveniently located, spotlessly clean and extremely well maintained. Chamonix is a special place, it becomes even more special by staying in this property which is close to everything, yet quiet and serene. I cannot recommend it enough and thank the owner and her family for their kindness. If you arrive in Chamonix Sud, there are frequent buses that can drop you off at Saint Michael/Le Brévant stop. It's a short walk from there. The nearest grocery store is closed on Sunday, stock up before or eat out if arrive on that day. Cable car to Aiguille du Midi is worth the expense and effort, the view is spectacular! A trip to Vallorcine (recommended by Sylvie, Margaux's mother) on a 40 minutes local train trip (one way) is another great way to spend a beautiful day. It's a charming village. The property is suitable for two people, well equipped for cooking, the shower and bathroom areas are separate, so that shouldn't be a problem. There is electric kettle, mini fridge, oven, glass top burner, pod coffee machine, hair dryer, TV with several channels, Wi-Fi and if travelling solo life me, even a wooden skating duck to keep you company!
