Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNot an issue since we were aware, but the unit is up two somewhat narrow flights of stairs.
Great location in the center of the old walled city. Very comfortable apartment with nice touches and well equipped kitchen. Would definitely stay again. Distance-wise it’s an easy walk from Avignon Centre train station (different than Avignon TGV station). We took a taxi to the apartment but upon departure, when we knew our way around, simply walked.

AustraliaAll good
Lovely apartment in the heart of the old city. We had to walk 12 minutes from the train station to the apartment, as there is no car access, but it was easy. There were two flights of stairs but the apartment was worth it - quiet and comfortable with lovely furnishings. The hosts provided small gifts and a useful guide to the city - much appreciated. The bed is comfortable. The single long pillow was a surprise but it worked well. The bathroom is small but the shower is good. There are small steps between each room but they are easy to navigate. There are lovely boulangeries a few minutes walk away. Supermarkets, multiple restaurants, bars and the Palais de Papes are in easy walking distance. When we had a car we found the best parking for us was the free parking at Avenue des Italiens just at the edge of the old town. A free shuttle bus takes you to Les Halles in the old town, three minutes walk from the apartment.

AustraliaWe absolutely loved staying in Avignon in this apartment. First of all, the location was perfect, and easy to access. We loved Avignon, and this apartment was a wonderful place from which to experience the city. Excellent directions and information provided by the hosts. The apartment was beautifully styled and presented, and we felt completely at home. Excellent facilities and clear instructions for use. It was an absolute delight, and we appreciated the small gifts left by the hosts. Would definitely come again, and would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to visit Avignon.

United KingdomIts a little tight and awkward getting luggage through the gated entrance and up the spiral stairs but its an old building with no lift so we knew what to expect, especially after reading other reviews and comments.
Excellent little apartment right in the centre of Avignon. It has everything you would need for a short or extended stay (other than a washing machine). In 36+ degree heat, the apartment’s Air Conditioning was delightful. We only stayed for 3 nights so we didn’t really need many of the facilities, but everything was there like a home from home. Everything was clean and tidy. Catherine and Jean Michel gave us clear instructions and advice on parking and accessing the apartment as its in the town centre and you can’t drive to it directly. We parked in Les Halles as it was close and convenient, but it is rather pricy at just under 20 Euros for 24 hours. There are free options available for longer stays. If we return to Avignon, we’d have no worries booking this apartment again.

AustraliaDoors to the building are very heavy and difficult to handle with luggage.
We liked the location, close to the sites, food stores and restaurants. We loved all the thoughtful things such as detailed instructions for every apparatus, gifts, cooking supplies, lots of cutlery & crockery, comfortable bed, quiet area, easy to contact owners.

AustraliaThere was not one thing that we could dislike about the apartment. It was PERFECT! We have been travelling in Europe for 2 months and Charme au Coeur d’Avignon was the best accommodation that we have had!!!
Charme au Coeur d’Avignon was perfect. It was clean and well appointed and everything a traveller could need was available. The provision of kitchen utensils was most generous and the nearby market made it possible for us to sample local produce both at home and at the many lovely local restaurants nearby.

AustraliaThe only thing we could have asked for would have been a washing machine - otherwise this place had everything. Having said that, it was an easy walk to a nearby laundromat (I used Lav'matic @ 9 Rue du Chapeau Rouge). Other visitors should note - there are very few parking options for people wanting to stay in this beautiful part of Avignon (we used Parking les Halles @ 1 Rue de l'Olivier for 19 Euros/day but there are cheaper options).
This beautiful large apartment in the centre of Avignon had everything my wife and I were looking for as we based ourselves in the city to explore the local region for a few days. It's an easy walk to nearby attractions (like the Palais des Papes, Pont d'Avignon, Musée Calvet etc), cafes, restaurants and convenience stores, and fantastically placed to allow easy driving access to Pont du Gard, Nimes, Arles & Aix-en-Provence. The fully-equipped kitchen lacked nothing, so when we didn't feel like eating out we had an easy option of eating-in. The lounge area is also wonderfully large, allowing us to relax in comfort after long days of exploring.
