Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere were only 2 towels in the bathroom and the bathroom was very small. There were no tea or coffee making facilities, and there was no aircon
The Breakfast was ok, the lady on reception was the Jacky of all trades, she booked us in on arrival, carried the luggage and made the breakfast? The Dinner was expensive but absolutely superb.

United KingdomThe hotel room we stayed in (no. 1) would not have been suitable for anyone with mobility problems as it was up the main stairs and then down a tight spiral staircase. Areas of the hotel were not that clean with dead flies and cobwebs on the window sills in some of the main stair case areas. The carpet in some places was worn and stained.
A fabulous and small hotel set in the most amazing chateau. History all around and a massive room. The food in the restaurant was absolutely amazing with lots of additional extra little courses. The wine list was extensive and varied. The bed was extremely comfortable. We loved the hotel and it was obvious they were working hard to bring it up to standard. A charming place to stay and thoroughly recommend it.

SwedenThe rooms were beautiful and well decorated, but were lacking some items that you would expect for the price. (No water bottle, no fruit, no kettle, no coffee, no towel hangers).
Sleeping in a castle is always impressive! The staff was very kind and helpful and the facilities were good overall. The bed was incredible! The dinner at the restaurant was absolutely astonishing from start to end, the service is excellent and the dinning room is beautiful. Bravo to the chefs, who are working at a very high level! (** please think of offering a vegetarian option for the main course…!)

United KingdomIt is definitely overpriced. The room was about Premier Inn level, if that - but of course you are paying for being in a chateau. We expected the dinner to cost 69 euros, as per the booking site, and nothing was said about a special New Year's Eve menu - so imagine our surprise when we get a bill for 195 euros each. With wine and coffee and aperitifs etc. the meal came to well over 500 euros. Incredible food, but this isn't Michelin Star territory and 500 euros is excessive, especially without warning! Oh, well. We paid up and smiled, but the overall stay cost us about as much as week in Malaga would have, and I think I would have enjoyed the week in Malaga more! I should point out that we have ridden the Orient Express and stayed at Richard Branson's resort, and this isn't our first chateau either, so we aren't strangers to upmarket resorts. This one is good, but not in the Orient Express or Richard Branson league, and they shouldn't be charging that level of price.
Location is great, and it's an incredible building. A proper chateau! The dinner was exceptional - each of the nine courses was a work of art, very memorable food. The first time I have eaten gold leaf! The staff were lovely, very helpful and polite and they were happy to let me use my French.

United KingdomWhen I first checked in I was pleased to be staying in a chateau, especially after a very long drive. I read other reviews, and thought people seemed surprisingly negative. Before long, I agreed with them! The worst bit for me was that after checking out, the hotel accused me of damaging the carpet and took 500 euros from my account. We have literally no idea of what we allegedly did, and the hotel has ignored all attempts to request an explanation or a photo. As far as I can see, they have fraudulently taken my money and used it to re-carpet their hotel.
area was fine. Hotel grounds were completely neglected and barricaded off so not possible to go for a walk

United KingdomWe had a fabulous room in the main part of the chateau - spacious and extremely comfortable, overlooking the grounds. Wonderful dinner, even though there were only two choices per course. Lovely breakfast in the most beautiful breakfast room. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Easy to find and easy to park. Had a lovely walk round the grounds and woods in the morning.

United StatesNothing…there is no way to find fault.
This is a property in restoration mode, yet the professional manner in which it is being done does not create a distraction for guests. This property is worth at least one night’s stay and more due to the overwhelming amount of history, culture, and pleasure that is there.

Australiathe first thing no hot water for a shower, had to ring reception they then turned on the hot water. also had to turn heating on in the room. the staff comments were, winter has started but didn’t provide any heating. considering the price to stay cheap hair body wash for the shower which didn’t smell very nice. bracket for shower broken so could only use as a hand held wash. advertised tea and coffee making in the room, there was none. in the restaurant the staff didn’t know anything about the wine. to start we weren’t offered a wine list until we asked. on the list only bottled wine. we asked about a glass of wine as we like to pair a wine with the food. there is wine by the glass offered but couldn’t tell us which wines. had a white wine that was not chilled. no choice on the menu, one entre, one fish or one meat dish and one dessert. breakfast expensive and had to ask for everything even for butter to have with bread. pay top dollar to stay in a beautiful building but get 2 star hotel. there are a lot of chateau’s to stay in France this is not one to recommend

Poor lighting and the bottled water was warm with no glasses to drink it from other than plastic glasses from the bathroom sink.

United Kingdomthey tried to give us an appalling room that was so different from the wonderful photographs displayed. They expected us to take a tiny attic room with cheap plywood partitioning and a door that did not lock. Too far removed from the wonderfully spatial, high ceiling & elegant rooms shown in the photos. showing the swimming pool as a feature of the stay, then to be told it was an extra Euro30 was cheap.
