Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceIn the sleeping rooms unfortunately the internet was rather slow or non-existent which was a bit inconvenient if travelling for business. But that was the only negative thing I can think of.
The breakfast was quite good although I missed some French cheese. The staff is the best, really friendly and supportive Good evening restaurant. Very quiet and tranquil place. Overall I would go back again if to stay in that area.

Immaculate rooms located at the side of the chateau & the bed was so comfy. Beautiful surroundings & quiet to rest . Dining option offered but fancied a stroll into the village for a beer & pizza. Booked breakfast 9euro each . Hot fresh pastries , fruit , yoghurts , cereal & unlimited choice of coffees. It’s an hidden gem & totally worth the money . Pristine white bedding , towels & air con.

NetherlandsPersonal didn't speak English at all. So we wear translating with google. Just a guy in the restaurant, he was really nice and could speak English. We ordered breakfast, and because of poor English, we didn't ask on which time. They are really late with breakfast it starts at 8.30. So if you want to leave early don't order breakfast. Breakfast was really, really poor. It kost 9euro p.p. but there were no plates, no glas, no spoon or fork. There were even no croissants. Just bread with Nutella and jam. Disappointed 😞
Rooms are really nice and clean. Matras comfortable.

United KingdomWe felt our arrival and stay was an inconvenience. Reception was unmanned and we searched everywhere until we found a staff in the kitchen who reluctantly diverted from their work and assisted us. Similarly, check out was unmanned. To summarise, no one said hello and welcome, and no one said good bye and thank you, I hope you enjoyed your stay. The room lights were broken and didn’t turn on and we couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi. The restaurant was closed and there are very limited options in the town with small pizza take aways. We tried to contact before our arrival about checking in and dining options but the only reply was to advise that the restaurant was closed.
Pretty building in green space. The room was clean and comfortable.

JerseyThis is a former chateau that seems to be owned by the municipality although operated through another party. When we arrived; at the appointed period already acknowledged within the confirmation-messaging; the place was a Marie-Celeste; doors locked everywhere with no-one about and no explanation or contact# etc. Eventually after considerable time and effort we managed to reach someone through contact details in our Booking.com information but this was fraught as English was not spoken (contrary to criteria stated for the place). Later that afternoon a skeleton set of staff arrived and we could proceed. These staff are trying to do well but the whole setup seems to be close to the bottom of marketable performance, so it is probably best to hope that things get better once more clientele are achieved. Currently it is was a ghost-town experience with only us and one other couple there (they abandoned their dinner table after struggling with inadequate service for half an hour). To be fair though, the staff themselves were not impolite to us and we had good dinner in that restaurant.
Rooms are situated in some separate accommodation blocks adjacent to the original chateau. These have the advantage of modern reliable equipment and everything was recent-build and clean. We appreciated the integral air-conditioning hardware, which worked well through the hot weather.

ItalyNothing, our stay was great.
Our stay at the Chateau du Petit Bois exceeded out expectations. The place is simply wonderful. Located in the picturesque Cosne-d'Alier, it offers a quiet and peaceful atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy the quiet countryside, as well as some excellent french food. The grounds are well kept and the staff is very kind and helpful. We only stayed for one night but would love to stay again. We also recommend the dinner if you like french cuisine.
