Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe chef made an effort to offer vegan food, but it remained a bit of a problem. More plant-based options would be lovely.
This hotel is located in a beautiful location, within easy reach of Arles, with excellent local walks. The property itself is gorgeous and comfrotable, and the staff is very helpful. A unique place to stay.

United StatesThe inside and rooms are less nice than the outside. My wife is very sensitive to smells, and our room was a little musty. Luckily the gorgeous huge landscaping had lots of bay trees and lavender, and leaves from the former and flowers from the latter and a big open window with screeens made it OK. The breakfast buffet would be OK if free, but not worth 10 Euros per person.
The grounds, setting, and outside of the building are Outstanding! Pool is lovely. Dinner was excellent, set in a beautiful old vaulted room (probably old kitchen) with a huge fireplace. . Bed was comfortable, bathroom fine. Good value. We were glad we stayed there and would happily stay there again.

FranceThe room was rather small but that was expected and not a problem. It was more modern than I had hoped as I prefer character which is why I choose historic buildings. A small fridge and coffee making facilities would have been appreciated. But no real complaints.
The welcome was very warm and the family run atmosphere most pleasant. Lovely terrace in front of the château for dining. Breakfast was quite good value and I particularly liked the inclusion of fresh fruit, ham and cheese as well as the usual pastries and jams. The restaurant was the highlight of our stay. Superb presentation and flavors and excellent value. But remember to book each night in advance or you may miss out as we nearly did on our last night. The more expensive menu option is more reliable when it comes to quality.

We loved staying here and especially being in such a beautiful building filled with history. I am surprised to see some negative reviews so here are some thoughts we think will help if you’re considering staying here - Rooms: this is an old castle so many of the rooms are filled with history and are completely stunning. There is a vast variety in size and decor. I learnt that by booking a ‘regular double’ we were in a much smaller room. It’s not much more expensive (less than 20€ extra a night) to have a deluxe room, and the difference is huge, so we were very glad to be able to move into one instead. I’d recommend booking one of the premium rooms for your stay if you can, it’s well worth it. Food: breakfast is everything we needed - boiled eggs, fresh fruit, fresh croissants and good coffee, baguettes, cheese, ham, jams etc. We saw some complaints about breakfast however for €10 it’s impossible to have a simple but great buffet anywhere else. We thought breakfast was perfect for our needs and good value for money. However the real magic is the Hotel’s dinner. Wow! They do a €30 three course meal and every one we had during our stay was superb - creative, delicious and clearly created with a lot of care. The dinners at the hotel were one of our favourite aspects of our whole trip! The grounds: wow wow wow! The grounds are beautiful. We were annoyed at ourselves for only on our last couple of days going on treks and exploring the site. You can trek to some ruins, climb the mountain to watch sunrise/sunset, explore the beautiful golf course and small local villages. Definitely take some time to take walks and enjoy the grounds Lastly, the staff are very attentive and precise. I unfortunately have some sleep issues but they attended to our needs in the most professional and kind way, to which I was very grateful. Ultimately, I believe that staying here contributes to the upkeep of a beautiful historic castle and the family who run it.

United KingdomNothing. We know it and love it.
This property is a gem, comfortable and well appointed. We have been staying here for many years and the property offers a peaceful stay for a stop over, centre for local travel or a longer holiday. We have been rewarded at each visit by having delightful and sometimes fantastic evening meals. Menu is limited but always great. The breakfasts are comprehensive and good value. Staff are friendly and helpful.
