The Wi-Fi was non existent in our room (Marine) but could be accessed downstairs.

Very nice rooms, everything you could need. There was a pool, but we didn't try it. Our host was very nice. Quite a lot of nice places to visit in the locality. Breakfast was fine.

Parking quite tight. Had to reverse all the way out, a good 100 meters round a tight bend with stream and drop at the side. Could do with a turning circle really.

Eric is a very hospitable man. He made us feel very welcome in his home. We hadn't booked an evening meal, but Eric made up a charcouterie board for us, which was lovely. Washed down with wine 🍷.

There was a problem in the ceiling over the shower cubicle in that a cover fell from the ceiling and water,clean I hoped,dripped into the shower cubicle including when using the shower. The ceiling around this area was damp and stained showing this problem was not new. I brought the problem to the notice of the owner. Sound proofing from the room above was poor and led to a late hour before being able to get to sleep.

The property was really unique in that it was based on a medieval theme which meant there was armoured knights dotted around, including in our bedroom so with the dim lighting and draped four poster bed it was a bit surreal.

as a family with older kids (17, 15, 13), we had no dislikes. had we arrived and the kids been any younger maybe it would be different. it doesn’t take away from the property or the owner whatsoever, but it strikes us as a quiet place and certainly my heart would have been in my mouth had my babies been running around. breakfast was a croissant each, natural yogurt (fresh in jars, beautiful) fresh waffles, petit pain and boiled eggs. fresh juice and hot drinks…more than plenty and very fresh, served in a beautiful room by a friendly host. we were careful to arrive after 5 and be gone by 10 as this is the owners home and they are his terms, which is more than fair and we respected that and had no problems. enjoyed trying to chat through broken English and broken French. brilliant stay for a night, enjoyed it and thank you to our host

the history, the location, the friendly owner, the care of the restoration, the outdoor pool with shower, the beds and en suite bathrooms, the breakfast….and the cat!!

Unfortunately, the true, medieval style of the Chateau was not as appealing as expected & made me feel rather uncomfortable. Breakfast was disappointing

The location was picturesque. A stream running beside the small 'story book' castle gave it a magical touch. The owner had obviously spent much time in the renovation of this old building

Our room was very dark, as was a lot of the chateaux. Also getting through the entrance gates was a bit of a hassle.

This Chambre d'hote is in a great location and Eric is a very welcoming host. The bed in our room was large and very comfortable and the chateaux has a lot of character.

Dark, very bad lighting. Old. Needed a lot of upkeep. Walking up & down stairs was dangerous with no lighting, especially with suitcases. Trying to locate the light switch was difficult. no ventilation. One small window in a room for 4 people & no air conditioning or air exhaust in bathroom made room very stuffy . The room, bathroom smelled musty. We were told we had to vacate the rooms /property between 11am- 5pm when we arrived. We had no choice but leave during those time. We had a wedding to attend to so had to make other arrangements to get ready for the wedding elsewhere. The proprietor didn’t speak English so difficult to communicate. The rooms & bathrooms did not look like they were cleaned although we were told we had to leave so they can clean. Bathroom light was blown & not replaced, toilet flush broken and tiles in bathroom broken. No bathroom toiletries provided ie soap,hand or body wash, shampoo, conditioner were provided so we had to go out to get our own . Breakfast was basic.

We didn’t realise we’d need to vacate the property between 1100 and 1700. To be fair, the owner made an exception for us - but we did not get the relaxing rest day we’d hoped for.

good location for the Via Allier cycle ride. The rooms had lots of character.
