Beautifully maintained chateau rich with history and thoughtful details for a luxurious stay. We were welcomed by the owner who shared the history of the property and made us feel warmly welcomed and generously helped us with all of our questions. This was our favorite stay throughout the Loire Valley, and we ended on the best note possible.

What a fantastic place this chateaux is to stay in. Everything about it showed attention to detail and it was fabulous to stay in a little piece of history with all areas having been restored to their former glory but with modern amenities. They even have health & spa facilities in the basement which were tastefully done to compliment the ancient surroundings. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful and the breakfast was superb. Already planning the next trip when they re-open next April.

My husband and I have stayed in many hotels of various standards. None bad. This hotel Chateau La Marquise is the best. The belle époque decor is breathtaking, the furnishings perfect, a beautiful garden, service and cleanliness exceptional. Generous breakfast and high quality toiletries. A perfect hôtel .

We liked it all.

My wife and I arrived by bicycle and the location was convenient to the EuroVelo route. The swimming pool was fantastic after a full day on the bike. Safe storage space was provided for the bikes. Our room was fantastic! The receptionist that checked us in was very informative and helpful as was the owner of the establishment. The breakfast in the morning was great and we left more than adequately fueled up for the journey ahead. I feel very fortunate to have stayed the night and only wished we had stayed longer.

The friendly and extremely helpful hosts set the tone for a few days of relaxation in this beautiful elegant hotel. Spotlessly clean. The gardens were peaceful and the pool a lovely spot. Off street parking and a short walk to the town centre. Would thoroughly recommend it and one of the best places weve stayed in France.

Beautiful historic building. The owner gave us a tour & history of the hotel over the years, so interesting. Our room had a wonderful view of the chateau and the gardens.The facilities are fabulous, clean & plenty of room to relax, you are encouraged to use all the lounges downstairs as well as explore its 2 acres. It was very hot when we arrived, the heated pool was a splendid way to cool down. La Marquise is perfectly situated to explore Saumur and the famous chateau. The team made us feel so welcome, I just wish we had longer here.

Nothing was too much trouble - requests were dealt with immediately. Everything was top quality. The interior was stunning - all original features have been maintained. More like staying in a private house than a hotel. The grounds were lovely and very well maintained. Parking was easy. Staff were super helpful.

We stayed here for 2 nights on 12th September and it was truly fabulous. The new owners are Flore and her husband. Flore was there almost all of the time and was wonderful. The hotel is stunning and immaculate, a true chateau with real history that they intend to preserve. We were sad to leave. We will come back to see how they are getting on as it’s rare to meet such inspirational people.
