Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe toilet blocked after the first use, with just a small amount of tissue. Although the hotel had sorted this, upon request, by the time we'd arrived back at the end of the day. Advert says hair dryer included - it isn't, but if you ask reception they do give you one. The only real significant negative was that the walls are paper thin. Advert says the rooms are sound proofed - this isn't true. I was awoken one morning by next door cutting a loud fart. You could hear every bit of a conversation, and toilet use.
Location was ace - perfect base from which to move about the city. Also, the hotel is inside a lovely shopping mall - has a nice feel about it. The room isn't bad, although our view was of another wall.

United KingdomIt's not ideal for people with mobility problems but the lift helps.
The Chopin is a wonderful Paris institution. We first came on our honeymoon in 1979 and it's still lovely. It's not luxury, there are stairs, it's a bit old fashioned but it is brilliant. We must also give a big mention to Esther who sorted several things out for us, and was fabulous. Thanks Esther! Reception is friendly, multilingual and really helpful. The lift/elevator is a godsend!

AustraliaIt would have been nice if we were informed of renovations taking place in the lobby area on the days of our stay during the time of booking. We were keen to try the breakfast but decided not to, because the breakfast room smelled of plaster and paint.
Location of the Hotel was Fantastic. Close proximity to the opera house and shopping districts. It is really nice to walk down stairs there is a grocery shop right in the arcade and many food and coffee places located just within 5-10 mins. Many artsy shops and interesting 2nd hand book stores. Collections of old paintings and vintage photo shops galore. Just by walking, the arcade leads to many other historical arcades in the district all full of interesting shops and boutiques. The hotel itself was a little old but full of character. I quite liked the different coloured rooms with windows opening onto parisian rooftops. There were 5 people in our group and we stayed in 2 rooms. One triple room and one double room. Despite the furnishings carrying vintage old charm, the bathrooms have been renovated. Sheets were clean and property fairly well maintained considering its age. Not too bad in terms of value for price in paris.

United KingdomNothing. I had no complaints.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They found me a quiet spot to do some work where I needed to make some phone calls (my son wanted to have a sleep in the room). The hotel itself, though a little quirky, is well kept and welcoming. It even has its own cat (or vice versa)

AustraliaThe rooms, being old, were a tad small for storing bags and moving around etc. It was still and hot when we were there and with no a/c the room didn’t offer the respite you may want. Mind you they provided a fan and most other character places probably do not have a/c. These are minor negatives and way outweighed by positives. Would still recommend.
Cute and quaint Parisian experience. Excellent location with restaurants and transport nearby and many central sights within walking distance. Also it is located in a stunning arcade/passageway. The breakfast was very good and at a good price. People all very nice and welcoming.

United StatesI would have liked a reading lamp and softer bulbs for the sconces above the bed.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was charming and comfortable. Great bathroom with a huge tub and a large window overlooking the rooftops of Paris. I loved the location in the gallerie and the shops and cafes. It was walking distance to many sights. I arrived at the Palais Garnier opera house within 20 minutes in time for my tour.

AustraliaHaving Maxwell House powdered coffee as the breakfast offering is hard to understand in a city like Paris which loves its coffee. It made us search out another option. A simple thing for the hotel to fix :)
The charm of the location is one of the best things about the Chopin. At the end of a beautiful ancient Galerie (part of several in the area - felt very historic). Our room was inward facing and exceptionally quiet for Paris. Staff were lovely especially Alicia, the resident cat and Mlle Paulette who was sometimes with her Maman at Reception. One day during our stay there was an electricity problem and no hot water. Staff did everything to get it repaired asap. The area is full of good places to eat and small supermarkets to purchase the odd bit and piece.
