Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomWe ordered breakfast, which was very good. The night porter told us to pay 'Madame', who was in charge of breakfast, which we did. However, when we came to check out, the new person on Reception questioned whether or not we had paid for breakfast and doubted that we had. We insisted that we had paid, so he checked with 'Madame', who verified that this was the case. 'Monsieur' then proceeded to give 'Madame' a dressing-down in front of us, which was frankly embarrassing, uncalled-for and totally inappropriate. I made a point of going round to the kitchen to thank 'Madame' for a very nice breakfast, but we were left with a nasty taste in the mouth in terms of staff relationships.

United KingdomThe fact our room wasn’t cleaned upon arrival even though we had to wait for check in. We waited for check in (fair enough) but then came into a dirty used room. They did clean promptly though. Also we were not informed about the rule to leave the key at reception upon leaving. We were not told when we checked in (yes I know there was a sign on desk but unless it was pointed out to us we did not notice it). Then we tried leaving one evening and the receptionist made a point (a little rude we found) that there are ‘signs everywhere’ telling us this fact. In the elavtor, on the door and on the desk. We tried pointing out we never used the elavtor, and there was in fact no sign on the door, and we were never informed of this rule. He did however let us leave with our key, as we felt more comfortable having it with us.

Belgiumcarpet was old and gave false impression of being dirty (which wasn't the case) no hooks for towels on the bathroom no blinds to make room completely dark no water boiler (but kitchen personnel provided us with warm water if they were around)

BelgiumI would like to have had a water boiler on the room and some hooks for the toilet could increase the comfort. Rooms were clean. Carpets are bit old. The WiFi. was rather bad and pillows need to be updated. But none of that made our stay unpleasant or regret the choice. Price/quality was excellent!
