Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe photographs must be very old as they did not represent the current situation. There was mold in the bathroom, no plug in the basin, a cracked loo seat. The shower was coming off the wall. The blind didn't work. The carpark was not secure (as shown in the inaccurate photos on the website).
The hotel owners must set their standards very low. And then fail to achieve them.

IrelandThe receptionist was not at the desk when we arrived at 4:50pm (check in begins at 3pm according to the website) we waited for 20 minutes for him to arrive. He was aggressive and insisted I followed him into the room (a single woman) to show me the room, which made me feel very uncomfortable. The room itself had black female hair all over the floor of the toilet. The bedsheets had stains on them. The curtains had holes in them. The furniture on the balcony was broken. The paint was coming off the wall. We could hear the springs of the bed move in the apartment above us each time the occupant sat on the bed. The decor was out dated and there was a musty smell in the room when you entered. Overall we paid over €70 for this service which was extremely over priced as I have been in campsites cleaner than this hotel!!!
Nothing!

United KingdomWe booked this accommodation as a quick alternative as our other hotel overbooked. The manager/staff wasn't their when we arrived and we had to wait 30 mins outside for him to turn up..the rooms were pokey, beds were clean, hairs around the sink..old leaks on the ceiling...very tired.. I paid 67 pounds for a 10 pounds room...if you solely need desperately for somewhere to stay, this is OK.. if you want somewhere slighly decent, avoid.!!! Good off road parking though...

FinlandWe liked our little balcony with a view to the cathedral. The owner of the hotel is a funny man and likes to talk on the phone a lot :) . Rebecca was great. She even found some toys for our 3 year old son. In all honesty, there is room for improvement, though. When we left, we noticed they were renovating a bit, so they are working on it. We will remember this hotel.

United KingdomThere were one or two items which could have done with a little maintenance, e.g the handle to the balcony door was very loose. I managed to tighten it using a small key. The WC pan rocked a little. A balcony chair had been repaired (unsuccessfully) with sticky tape. None of these were big issues, just small details.
The balcony made this room exceptional. One of the chairs was in need of repair or replacement but it not a big issue. Good private parking. Quiet at night. Excellent shower. Excellent Asian restaurant nearby. Hotel restaurant closed on the day we stayed.

United KingdomWe were told there had been a mistake with the price of our booking and we owed another 10€, as we had only been charged for 1 person. We said the booking had been paid for and we weren't paying any more. They blamed booking.com for the mistake, but accepted the price we paid. Apart from that, everything was fine and I would stay again.
Great location for the medieval town. A good restaurant attached, which was great for us as it was raining. Not far from other eateries and a bread shop.Nice room, with a great shower. Free parking was a bonus.

NetherlandsDear reader, Apart from my opinion at the bottom, please make up your mind for yourself after reading my experience below. I booked the hotel room for 25 euros on Booking.com. The booking e-mail mentioned that no additional charges would be made. On arrival the manager said that I should pay a 'tax de sejours' of one euro. I paid it because it is still one euro, but it conflicts with Booking.com's communication. I just settled into the room when the manager knocked on the room asking me how much I paid Booking.com, I said 25 euro's and he said that the price was 59 euro's and that I had to pay the difference. I said to him I ain't paying more because that is not part of the deal. He asked me to talk to Booking.com In the mean time Booking.com customer service had e-mailed me and had tried to call me. The e-mail asked if I was willing to make a deal with owner and if they would not hear from me within 30 minutes they would cancel my booking. I replied by mail that I would not pay anything extra because rightness of price is outside of my responsibility as a customer. In case the real price (59 euros) had been advertised I would not have taken the deal. Booking.com customer service called me again with the same request to pay extra and since I was not willing to do that they asked if I was able to move to another accommodation. I said no, I want to enjoy my stay and the Booking.com assistant finally listened to me and wished me a good night. A little after that the manager came back again with the euro in tax I had paid trying to kick me out of the hotel at 8PM in the evening. I said to him I ain't going nowhere and wished him a good night. It took until 9PM until I received another confirmation (the same) from Booking.com. I do not blame the owner of the hotel for the fault on the website, what I find inhuman is that he tried to put me on the street instead of taking his loss OR turning to the party that was to blame, i.e. Booking.
Straightforward accommodation, perfect for short stays no excessive luxury but also not worth the normal price of 59 euro's (or 64 euros as mentioned by Booking.com).
