Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomConvenient location close to town centre as well as the foot bridge connecting to Tain l'Hermitage. Very pet friendly and the staff went out of the way helping with our luggage and giving us excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities. They also have beautiful gardens at the back with great views. Highly recommend!

United StatesWe would have liked a better description of where to park. The person at reception at the time of our visit only said it was closely down the street and underground. Was a little confusing to find the parking lot the 1st time, would help if they would show it on a map on arrival. The room was nice and large, could have used a little more furniture for comfort.
Friendly service in classic building. Convenient location to explore Tournon, Tain and the general area. Nice breakfast service.

GermanyBetween the small windows is a display of two mounted birds. While I didn't really care, my wife found that quite creepy. In our room (no. 12) the bathroom and the toilet were separated. Which isn't bad per se except for the fact that there is no dustbin in the toilet and the dustbin in the bathroom is located behind a metal bar in such a way, that you can't really access it, if you want to get rid for example of the empty toilet paper roll. When I wanted to charge my phone, the only socket I could find was one next to the floor below the TV table. Again crawling is necessary to reach it. I wish hotel staff would sleep at least one night in their own rooms in general to notice these kinds of things themselves. A little note tells you in the room that you can't get any WiFi connection in the upper floor. If you want to use the internet, you have to go down to the 1st level. When we wanted to go to sleep after returning from dinner a very loud machine noise (like a very loud aircon or so) was hearable in the bathroom and since that lacked a door also quite dominant in the bedroom. Luckily the reception is 24h available and the helpful angel on the phone was able to turn the huge fan - or whatever that was - off in a matter of seconds. From then on the room was very quiet. Overall this review sounds more negative than it is meant to be. The bed is great, the actual aircon in the room not too loud and you can have a good night's sleep in the place. But after reading the raving reviews and seeing the pictures, the reality simply didn't fit our expectations. Maybe also the rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor offer a better experience due to a regular ceiling with regular windows.
After reading the very positive reviews and seeing the great photos on the hotel website as well as some renowned booking engines, one quickly gets the impression that the hotel would be located in a lush green garden with plenty of space for outside dining and large rooms. So the reality was a bit deflating for us. The hotel is located in the city in a maze of one-way streets. Getting a parking space near the hotel is a matter of luck. The reception was exceptionally friendly and helpful and was lifting our spirits a bit. The rooms - at least the ones on the 3rd (which is the highest) floor - have a very pitched roof area. That means the windows are not only quite small, but you would have to crawl to actually get to them and take a look at the outside. But you're not missing much, because you only get to see the fully concrete terrace space two floors down. The room isn't really small, but the area where a tall person can walk upright is limited to the area right next to the bed. The breakfast costs 20 EUR per person and consisted of a choice of bread, some very cooled down fruits (including a completely unripe and green fig) and a few marmelades. The hot chocolate made of non-dairy milk for my daughter had a weird taste. I'd recommend looking for a breakfast place in the surrounding instead. You can easily explore the city from the location, so finding a place for dinner (the hotel offers only breakfast) is easy and the surroundings are a typical French city close to a river with plenty of options for seeing old structures, gazing over the river or finding nice places for lunch or dinner.

DenmarkThe evening staff had a horrible attitude. They didn’t speak anything but French. They said they’d reserve us a table at a local restaurant but didn’t. Also they said they could serve us a glass of wine at the bar but after more than 40 minutes we waiting we simply gave up! Morning staff were kind.
The location was amazing and the historical town house was beautifully situated with quiet garden terraces and a pretty view from the top terrace.
