Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing but a kettle in the room would be even better.
We use the Hotel de Venise in Paris as a stop-over between train journeys. It is ideal for us.

PortugalNeighborhood quite noisy, a lot of traffic and construction sites nearly starting early.
It is a petit hotel that purely maintains the Paris style and vibe. Very close to the metro so location is ideal. Staff is super friendly and attentive.

United StatesThe rooms have a lighting system where, snide the room, you put the room card in a slot that turns your lights on. Well, in our room, we didn’t have a slot and a staff person came up soon after notifying them and they were just as surprised as we were to not have (which we did find to be a bit odd). These rooms were quite small so we were able to use the light from the bathroom to light up the room and that worked just fine. It’s a basic hotel with nothing fancy. This was also our most expensive hotel we stayed at in Paris. The max occupants when we booked (and maybe for all rooms) was for 2 people so you have to get multiple rooms for families greater than 2. The rooms were also the smallest rooms we stayed at in France which was fine, but given the price we paid, we were less than impressed. I also wasn’t a fan of the immediate area. This hotel seems to be on the outskirts of any lively spots. There wasn’t much happening in that area so for someone who likes nearby action, I wasn’t a fan. We were there on a Monday night so maybe that made a difference.
The staff was wonderful! They were genuinely nice and helpful individuals! It was a quick check-in process and they were available if we had any questions. The metro was about a block away so quite convenient and there was a nice bakery across the street.

AustraliaThis is a 2 star at best and a bit expensive for what you get. Breakfast is also expensive for a continental breakfast. Pillows were rock hard. AC in room but no remote control so had to sleep with window open.
The location is good. Quiet area, very close to Metro, restaurants, supermarkets, post office. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Brazilit is a tight fit room for 2 adults and 2 kids ( sofa bed) although at Paris rates, no complaints from me. for 2 adults it would be more than enough. As we really only slept here 1 night it was certainly not relevant, but for people who want a view, you may want to check what room you are getting as we didn't have one.
Great location for train travellers as it is close to Gare du Lyon and Austerlitz. It is a quiet neighbourhood and well connected to public transportation, but not so much a great location for food per se or site seeing in this actual area. All the staff we spoke to were exceptionally helpful, friendly and spoke English.

United KingdomThe location was perfect as we were taking a train from Gare de Lyon the next day and the station is a short walk away. The bed was comfortable, the shower was excellent, the breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. There are also good cafes, restaurants and a pleasant park on the same road.

FranceNot much to complain about. The building is old and not everything is modern, but that's obvious as this is Paris, an old city. This could not be blamed on the hotel staff.
Great location next to key train stations (gare de Lyon, gare d'Austerlitz).

AustraliaMattress and pillows slightly lumpy. And Paris prices are high! But overall, one of our best stays on a long trip through Europe.
Everything worked, including shower and simple-to-operate air conditioning. Breakfast in a smart downstairs room was very fresh and appetising. We also found the area great for a walk along the highland gardens, and a drink at nearby cafes.

United KingdomA few things looked in need of repair - nothing functional but cracked tiles etc. There were no drink making facilities in the room. the bed was very firm. It was very expecsive for a small, fairly basic room with breakfast not included.
The receptionist on duty the day we left was very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was clean and tidy and the shower was good.
