Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHotel du Lacs is a long-ish walk from town, so if that matters to you then stay closer to the centre. We didn't mind this, but if you're staying longer than a few days you might want to choose somewhere in town. No shops or restaurants nearby, although the hotel next door does have a lively bar and restaurant. If you need to eat then this is always an option. Would have been nice to have hot drinks facilities in the room, a kettle would be a nice touch. Also maybe options for food storage so we could make simple dinners in the evenings - but this is more a nice to have. As a budget hotel you don't tend to expect this, but would be very useful.
Nice little hotel, a little dated but perfectly fine for us. Views across to the mountains from the room a nice touch. The owners were lovely, and the hotel itself was pretty quiet and made a good base at the end of the day. Rooms are on the smaller side, but perfectly fine for 2 friends or a couple to share. We paid extra for the breakfast buffet which was simple but good. Staff were attentive and we thought the food was good quality and was more than adequate for our needs. There are no cafes or restaurants nearby, so we opted to take the breakfast most mornings. Hotel 1 minute from the bus stop with buses every 30 mins to the main ski lifts in both directions. Around 15-20 minute walk from town as an alternative option. The hotel also has a boot room outside for keeping your skis etc, which was also good. Overall we enjoyed this hotel and for the budget price we can definitely recommend.

GermanyWe had a very pleasant stay at this well located, clean and affordable hotel. The only improvement we can think of would be more power sockets (e.g. with extension via multiple plugs) near the bed. But this is not a big problem as there were several plugs in total along with the bathroom.

The hotel is situated not far from Chamonix centre - 20min walking distance. There is also a free shuttle just outside the hotel. The lake nearby is a lovely spot. The bed is very comfortable. Staff super friendly.

United KingdomEven though the site says that wifi is included, the wifi quality left a lot to desire. And though you seemed connected to wifi, the connection was very weak and you could not use any apps.
The breakfast was complete with everything it says will be included. The location is just like 10 meters away from the bus stop, so that is great. They have a space where you can storage your ski/snowboard equipment. And the staff is very friendly!

Lovely hotel, not far from the town center, very friendly host, we have been checking in very late and she has made it so easy for us. Great family room with additional bedroom for kids, very comfortable, very warm, clean, and great bathroom. SpainWiFi connection was continuosly going up and down, what I think is a bit unconfortable and inexplicable nowadays. If you are a "reasonable" person who doesn't need to be always online or need it to keep planning your trip, this is not a problem though.

Australiaone minor issue is the Verte Lodge on the N side of the hotel. frequented by poorly behaved British ex pats who party late into the night, totally inconsistent with the values and behaviour of the Chamonix valley.

United KingdomThe bar next door had load music but turned it of at 21:30, so seem to be respectful of neighbours. The local convenience store across the river is a 10min walk at best.
A quieter location than the town centre, but walkable to Chamonix in 10-15 mins. Comfy and clean rooms, good Continental breakfast.
