Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt felt like a hostel then a hotel, and as a hostel it was great, but we were expecting a hotel!! We had to check out a hairdryer! We had no WiFi in our room because it was to far from the lobby which you could get it there. The roof in our bathroom looked like it had water damage and was caving in, and the beds have much to be desired!!! We had not realized we had half board with our package and the dinner was good but no options and when we asked about options they informed we needed to tell them in the morning which we were unaware off or told about upon arrival.
Its location to the lifts for skiing was great, and the breakfast was wonderful. Also the free parking was definitely and wonderful added bonus

SwitzerlandThere was no internet since they had issues with the provider. It was not a problem for us but if you plan to get some work done.... It's important to know that if you want to go to the centre of Châtel in the evenings you need to take your car.
Great location to get up to the slopes. enough place to park, ski lockers easily accessible, ski rental and stores next door, simple but confortable room and the hotel has a restaurant and bar for a last drink before bedtime. Breakfast was nice as well and pretty complete (many types of teas and coffees, cereals, viennoiseries, fruits, eggs, ham, pancakes.. The place was perfect for the purpose and well priced.

United KingdomI know this is France, and we didn’t warn in advance (so my bad!), but my 20 year old daughter is vegetarian (not vegan!) and the kitchen really struggled! If they learnt the difference between veggie and vegan it would have been easier I am sure! Don’t let this put you off. If you have dietary requirements be sure to message ahead and be specific about what you do and and don’t eat.
1. Proximity to the Linga ski lift. 2. Friendly and helpful staff. 3. Clean and comfortable throughout. 4. Relaxed atmosphere. 5. Great breakfast. 6. Good communication with staff. 7. Making Negronis with the owners!

GermanyOnly downsides were the WiFi wasn't strong enough in the second floor, and the radiators seemed to be heating on maximum all the time.
Top location for skiing, nice breakfast and friendly staff. The view from the window is amazing. Convenient parking.

NetherlandsBe aware! Booking charges you with the tourist tax and the hotel does it again so you pay twice! If you complain about it at Booking.com you get no response... The hotel staff speaks barely English and mostly French. Difficult to communicate at times, but they try their best.
We have been in this hotel some years ago but the rooms have definitely got an upgrade. Beds are for France really good and comfortable! Breakfast is great. Dinner is served without choice. Eten wat de pot schaft we call that in Holland :-P

United KingdomThe WiFi didn't work, the bar area is good but you cannot stay there after the bar closes at 10. The evening menu is set so some of our group only had half a meal as they couldn't eat what was on offer

United KingdomGreat place to stay! Beyond the lovely and clean rooms, the great food and the fantastic location (100m of the Linga Telecabin), the staff at l'Eau Vive is second to none! It is run by a lovely family who would do their upmost for their guests (and also speak very good English).

United KingdomDecor and comfort in the entrance and bar could have been updated and a little less stark, but for the price, not a real problem.
Excellent location a short walk from La Linga lift, opposite a ski hire shop and a good restaurant. Free parking, friendly staff, very clean and pleasant rooms, good shower, excellent breakfast at good value. Asked and got a balcony room facing away from the road for the same price. Not a de-Lux hotel, but more than you could expect for the money and the stuff we’re very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomWe had a twin room and beds are a little small. (I'm not sure if they have double beds in other rooms?) However what it lacked in these areas it more than made up for in terms of value for money.
Fantastic staff, great breakfast. Very clean bedrooms with daily housekeeping. Directly opposite the Linga telecabine for incredibly easy access to the slopes. Also on the Châtel to Pré la Joux bus route.

United KingdomRoom backing onto the stairwell was a little noisy and dining room a slightly chilly. Dinners were very ‘white’ food based - absence of vegetables but occasionally a salad. Pike fish dumplings were the worst.
Great location next to Linga Télécabine and good sized triple room with balcony. Excellent continental breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe hotel web site claims it offers Wifi. This was important to me, as I needed to work in the evenings. But it was completely untrue. I was told on arrival that the Wifi did not work, and further questioning established that it has never worked, and there are no plans to make it work in future. I verified that it didn't even work near the reception or bar area. The hotel was very overpriced. One can get a 3* hotel nearby in the French Alps for less money.
Ideally located for skiing. 100 metres from major ski lift and from bus stop to other ski lifts. The breakfast & dinner were simple, but reasonably good.
