Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandI loved everything at the hotel.
Beautiful historic hotel and great facility with Spa, pool, golf and restaurant/cafe. The hotel is located at the hill overlooking Lake Geneva, wonderful views. It has a very nice spa and a nice indoor pool (a bit small) very clean . There is a vey nice main restaurant for breakfast/brunch and dinner. Also there's a bar menu that can be ordered until late. Room Service is great and the staff is very nice and helpful. We also used the baby center for our baby and they took very good care of the baby. Everyone we met was very nice, attentive and hospitable.

United KingdomThe second deluxe room in our group was not as spacious as some other deluxe rooms but this is not a problem in itself and would suffice if there were children in a group as it has adjoining door. L'Occitaine products are beautiful but the tiny containers are very difficult to use and sometimes product was not replenished.
Very attentive and kind staff group, supportive with my requirements. Breathtaking views and outlook from our room. Beautiful room, I upgraded to a Castle Room on the first floor as the deluxe room we were originally booked into (as a joint room with my family) was not big enough for my requirements. Although my Deluxe room on the second floor was beautifully appointed. My daughter's deluxe room however, was much bigger. Excellent cuisine and wine choices. Beautiful hotel.

United KingdomNothing of great significance but the hotel/ housekeeping should consider improving the availability of toiletries in the bathroom. L' Occitane range is lovely but the small bottles were not enough for 2 people.
The location of Hotel Ermitage is perfect with glorious views of the Lac Leman / Lake Garda. The Deluxe lake view room was beautiful, well appointed with very comfortable large bed, excellent views of the garden and lake beyond, from a loggia which had enough room for chair and desk. My mother requested an upgrade at her own cost and her Castle Room was just wonderful, spacious with excellent amenities, a seating area which doubled up as a lounge area and a Loggia and separate spacious balcony area - very much worth the additional cost. There was very much attention to detail, such as beautiful furnishings and little details such as eco coffee pods for the machine, which we very much appreciated. The grounds of the hotel are absolutely gorgeous and linked to the grounds of the sister hotel, The Hotel Royale. The Ermitage is beautiful hotel, very quite, beautifully decorated and the dining experience very much what we would expect from a quality French restaurant. None of this would mean anything without the wonderful hospitality of the staff. All individual staff members had a lovely approach, with typical French manners, discreet and gracious service throughout. In particular, the gentleman who assisted us with room change for my mother was particularly attentive and supportive with our needs as was the young woman serving us in the restaurant on Sunday evening. However all members of staff were wonderful and attentive. Absolutely, faultless service throughout. We cannot wait to return to the Hotel Ermitage and Evian and thank you so much for making my Mother's birthday so special. With all due apologies for my school girl French - Merci beaucoup pour votre merveilleuse hospitalité.

SwitzerlandIt's that kind of hotel for rich people where the staff expects to get a tip for opening your door or showing your room and I am not at all confortable with this attitude so no tips from me.

SwitzerlandThe pool, sauna and hammam are good. I also enjoyed quiet hours from noon to 4 p.m. when children are not welcomed in the pool. Having the kids club is a very good option for parents who need some private time.

SwitzerlandPool area was very busy, but this was the weekend. Basically Swiss prices for hotel and breakfast. We ate at La Table restaurant: the service was superb but the food was not really 100% up to scratch, e.g. filet de perche not hot enough. But we were celebrating a birthday and the cake was wonderful and we got free champagne.
Room was spacious, bed was very comfortable. Very good breakfast with lots of choice. Staff were very helpful and friendly and you really felt welcome. Nice bar area and lounge with chess board, scrabble, etc. I had no idea about the navette, this was nowhere on the website or in the instructions. You are able to phone ahead and book the black minibus so that it takes you from the boat station or train station to the hotel (and back) for free.

SwitzerlandSauna is tiny - and that’s already an exaggeration. There is no place to really relax after a sauna round - around the pool it’s way too noisy and crowded. At breakfast, made-to-order eggs would be expected at this level. If they would have been available, it wasn’t clear at all.
The hotel has a very relaxed, welcoming “feel at home” vibe. Our lakeview room was spacious and the view was worth the extra money.

GermanyThe ermitage hotel makes obvious the difference between very good and outstanding. The hotel is an oasis of quiet, of selected, comfortable furniture, beautiful decoration and surroundings, and polite and highly attentive staff. Nothing is overstated, yet it is both elegant and cosy.

GermanyIn the beginning of January the outdoor pool was closed. Indoor spa is quite small. I went during open hours but the sauna was already turned off around 19pm. The hotel has a lovely piano bar but musicians are only invited during school holidays. So even though there were many guests on Saturday, there was unfortunately no concert. The TV in the room was working very poorly, image was constantly breaking. Even though the room was cleaned every day, the little piece of dust in the corner stayed throughout our whole trip.
The hotel is beautiful and has a big green territory where it’s very nice to walk. It is also possible to visit a nearby 5 star resort, so the walk was very pleasant. Dogs are welcome for an additional cost, even a mat and boles for food and water were provided - very sweet! Food is very good, especially the Sunday brunch! Staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel offers valet services and free outdoor parking.

Switzerland€30 per person a bit overpriced. I would strongly recommend to often update the information on restaurant in the tablet available in the rooms. We booked one dinner at the restaurant based on the menu in the tablet. When we went to the restaurant the menu was completely different. This was unexpected and disappointing.🤔
There were a lot of different choices, from fish to eggs, cheese and pastries.
