How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Lack of English channels on TV

The cost of parking the car.
The location was very good with close proximity to the shops, markets and restaurants. We liked the room and the good lighting in the bathroom. There was a kettle in the room which is more of an exception than the rule and 2 bottles of complimentary water. We had a very nice meal in the restaurant in the evening. Sadly we didn't get an opportunity to use the swimming pool as the weather was cold and wet for our 2 night stay.

We had no complaints at all.

Very nice hotel in Aix. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Could not have been more obliging and welcoming. Location close to the town centre ( 5 minute walk) was ideal.

My only complaint: come late afternoon, the pool area and our terrace has many mosquitoes. The hotel will give you bug spray but then you smell like bug spray for dinner. It would be better for the hotel to spray the property.
The Grand Hotel Roi Rene is exquisite !! Beautifully appointed and nice amenities. Located very close to Cours Mirabeau, within walking distance. The front desk staff is very kind & helpful. Lovely lounge for aperitif and on Fridays, they had live music. Nice sun beds by the pool, and if you go into the lounge, you can let them know you’d like pool side service.

bathrooms ok but poor quality of the imstallations will cause problems in the future. Poor quality of booking.com. They asked me several times (6 times) - even after I arrived at the hotel - whether I would come. Answering to the email: it will not be read. If you answer by the ID number: it wasn't read. This is simply stupid!

The stairs to upper floors were steep. I prefer to take stairs over the lifts but I didn’t feel this was a safe option .
Location was great to walk into Aix. All staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast was amazing. Huge range of choice to set you up for the day Breakfast staff arranged a lovely birthday welcome for one of our party. Really went the extra mile

Nothing everything was good
Great location only about 10 minutes walk from the old town. Pool area was very nice and not crowded, breakfast had plenty of choice and good quality, very friendly staff, easy parking and comfortable beds

Not as convenient since it wasn't surrounded by cafes or boulangerie if you opt out of their breakfast which we didn't include in our booking. However, the complimentary coffee was good.
A couple blocks away from the city center but it was a nice morning stroll to get to the main center.

Safe was not working initially and had to ask twice to have bed made up as one split into two beds.
Breakfast was great. Nice selection of foods and nicely laid out.

There were five steps at the front entrance so not so handy if you have a heavy suitcase. On the way out one of the reception staff was very obliging and carried my suitcase up the steps but it was a bad design.
Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. My en-suite included a bath and bathrobes so excellent. Room was cleaned promptly and of a good size.

The room faces the road and it was quite noisy with the window open. but with the window shut it was fine.
Centrally located within east walk to everything. Nice shower and bathroom facilities. Easy to access parking right under the hotel.
