Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Puerto RicoFor everything sponsored on their website I was a little taken back by the simplicity of most things. It was almost 400 euros for 2 nights with breakfast and it wasn’t worth the price. It also mentioned 4 stars but it was really a 3 star experience. They were extremely stingy. You arrive and they offer a welcome cocktail- but really it’s only 2 options: white wine or a fruity no alcohol drink. The WIFI was terrible terrible terrible. They had two separate routers or connections and it was constantly on the lowest bar. You could not get through a simple video on your phone. They also didn’t have tissues in the room… when i went to go get some and asked they said “because of covid”. There is no logic to this. Do they just want people blowing their noses on toilet paper? Also it can’t be for any logical sanitary reasons because they don’t actually wash the pillows, or mattresses, just their covers which are things that can also be contaminated by other people. Just take the last tissue out after cleaning (end of tangent). Also by the time we arrived they had decided to cut off the AC. Only heating. You don’t get a choice. Not something I’d expect from a 4 star hotel paying almost 400 euros. Thankfully it was a cool night. Transport to the hotel: the bus stop is right there! Unfortunately they don’t have the stops on google maps so you think taxi is the only option. It cost us 7 euros to get to the hotel, but the guy said it was 10 euro minimum regardless. Not a great way to start. The bus back to the train station cost us 1 euro each. Quick 10 minutes. Restaurant: not really many options. Expensive for what they offered. Ate a full meal for 2 less than 35 euros at the restaurants nearby.
The location was very good. It was close to the sanctuary and bus stops. It was also really easy to get around by foot. Reception spoke many languages as did the majority of locals and shop/restaurant owners. The hotel and rooms were clean. They can hold your bags after checkout. Breakfast had decent choices (continental style). The bus to and from the sanctuary is very useful. We ate at a place called Carrefour brasserie and grill and it was such a great environment. Very cool.

QatarThey assigned me a room in another building (their partner hotel) and it was not according to what I requested for - the view. Internet was non existent. Luckily i have my pocket wi-fi. Aircon. I know these are trying times. But i was unable to sleep well as the aircon was only put on for 45 minutes.

NetherlandsThe toilet and the bathroom are too far separated from each other. The room is too hot, and we were told that the airconditioning should be switched off as it functions just as a heater. The dinner was not served professionally. We received the meals that we didn't order. The cutlery for the 3rd person was removed, while we sat on the table with 3 persons.
Very close to the Bernadette Grotto, just within 2 minutes by walking to the entrance of the sanctuary, which is very convenient for the pilgrims.

RomaniaWe booked two rooms, a deluxe double and a superior double. The superior double would've been larger and generally nicer. But we ended up in two deluxe doubles, which were neither nice nor very large. In fact, my room was small and very tired, with paint peeling off the the wall and the like. That was disappointing. Two people did NOT fit comfortably in that room, due to the large, heavy furniture and the diminutive size of it. The AC was quite noisy. The minibar was empty, and we had to pay extra to have it filled. Worst of all, we arrived at 9 o'clock in the evening, and we could get no room service, nor access the restaurant, which closes at 8.30! In my whole life, I've never stayed in a hotel that refuses to feed its guests past eight-thirty in the evening. It's ridiculous.
Breakfast was satisfactory, lots of choices, and relatively okay coffee. The bathroom was large and clean. The bed was not uncomfortable, though the pillows were on the small side and the duvet cover torn at one corner. There were many electrical outlets, so one could easily plug in an array of devices. The laundry service was prompt and adequate.
