Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI didn’t realise that The room I booked was up so many stairs! But it was not a problem for me.
Great location close to metro and train station. Easy to get around and safe at night. Some great bars and bistros nearby, with other more vibrant precincts within walking distance or a short ride away.

United Kingdomroom and facilities were mediocre at best. My view is tainted by the fact we paid €600 for two nights where the normal going rate is probably a fraction of that. Was there during world cup rugby time. Ratings may have been different had we not massively overpaid for the accomm.
Location was decent

IrelandRoom was not ready first time or an hour after we were told it would be. Then we were given a much Smaller room than we booked with no offer of reduction on what was a very very expensive single night. Room, whilst not fair to say it was dirty, it was far from what I would call very clean
Cute on the surface of it and pretty good location

United KingdomNo coffee or tea available in the room, and requests for any at reception was met with hesitation or payment. I've never stayed at a hotel where you're expected to pay additional for basics. I'd often ask for chilled tap water, as the bathroom tap let out lukewarm water, and again was met with a feel of annoyance. My room was also in awful condition compared to how the photos on site conveyed them - the shower door and adjoining wall was crumbling, and the wallpaper was peeling at a number of places in the room. The parking instructions was misleading on the booking, and resulted in a stressful arrival trying to find somewhere suitable, only to be met with a 58 EUR bill on exiting the carpark. Nothing boutique about this experience.

FranceBreakfast wasn’t great… coffee was literally horrible! There was also an issue with the last person that stayed in the room we booked (she didn’t give back the keys to the room) so we had no keys to our room the first night which was a bit worrying and also annoying since we had to call reception to open the door…
The location is great, walking distance to the port and local shops.

RussiaDisgusting and awful situation. I booked 2 different rooms and payed for both of them. 8-10, 10-12th of June. In the morning 10th of June manager at the reception said that I do not have to change rooms! But when I came home late in the evening, they moved all my clothes, bag and shoes to another room !!!!!!!!! Without my agreement!!!!!! Most important thing is that hotel workers moved not all of my thighs. Manager screamed at me and was rude due to current situation. But it was absolutely their fault!!! Please, will move to another hotel immediately! I need my money back.

United KingdomLovely little hotel, really close to a fun area of Marseilles for cafes and bars and equally well located for the train station and port. All of the staff were really helpful despite my terrible French and I loved my little single room with the big windows! I had breakfast on my last morning, great variety and lovely setting. Would recommend!

SpainThe hotel is a story of two halves. downstairs feels very boutique. but that is where it ends. once you pass up the stairs to the upper floors it feels dated and tired. I’m not sure if they are in the middle of redecorating as there is a large pile of decorating materials covered in a white sheet as you head up the stairs. our room in general was clean apart from some ( suspicious) stains on the wall by the bed. the shower head was broken and did not function correctly. when we reported this they did nothing about it. when we reported it again they just shrugged their shoulders. when we left there was no one available at reception to check us out and take payment for our stay. as a result they reported our stay as a no show to bookings.com. we wouldn’t recommend this hotel and would not stay here again.
the hotel is located very centrally only a few minutes walk from most of the places to see in Marseille. the woman who checked us in was lovely. the breakfast for 12€ was great value with loads of food.

BelgiumThe room was not resembling the one in the (few) pictures, it was small, ugly, and definitely not worthy of the price. Also, the hotel did not have elevator, which wasn't clearly mentioned (for me it was ok to carry my luggage to 3rd floor). That could be ok for a cheap hotel, but this one wasn't.
Location was very good. Also the hall was nice, as in the pictures. Personnel was helpful and kind.
