Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesRemember - this is Paris. Think — small rooms, limited storage, single pane windows and walking up a flight of stairs.
Excellent location. Close to restaurants, Metro and Place de Vosges. Very comfy bed. Modern bathroom. We took a food tour of le Marais. (Highly recommend) Their hostess, Rena, was so kind, friendly and helpful. Charming, historic building. Would stay there again.

ItalyGetting up to the top floor required stairs, a tiny lift and then more stairs which are all doable with a trolley or hand luggage but would be more problematic with large luggage. Not an issue for us but it helps just to be aware of this.
Fabulous quiet location but really close to metro, buses etc to move around Paris. Super helpful staff and good facilities.

AustraliaThe elevator wasn't working. It didn't bother me at all, but people with poor health conditions wouldn't be happy. A bit noisy spot because of the bars on the street working late, so be sure you sleep as a rock or you drunk as a rock 😀
Absolutely amazing stuff, great location, lots of character.

United StatesIt was hot so we needed to have the window open. The street noise was loud but late at night the drunks from the bar nearby were very loud and annoying.
The central location was excellent. Very convenient to metro. The historic building combined with modern plumbing and lighting is lovey. The desk clerk was very helpful and friendly

United Arab EmiratesThe visuals on Booking.com did not match the actual property - which is tiny! Breakfast available on request, and very basic taken on a couple of tables in the tiny reception Rooms facing a very busy road with cafes and very noisy until late.
The welcome was wonderful though - very homely - Rooms are very small and cosy

United StatesThe elevator doesn't start until the 1st floor and only goes to the 4th floor, so we had to do a combo of elevator and stairs, but the charm of the top floor was worth it!
We were fortunate enough to have the top floor room which was charming with a skylight that opened out onto the roofs of Paris and we had the ability to see far. We had so much light in our room. The room was well designed and efficiently laid out with plenty of shelving and the bathroom was modern, easy to use and roomy. The location could not be beat-- truly less than 40 steps away from the entrance of Place des Vosges which made for nice mornings! Breakfast is available at the hotel and is truly delicious-- a Parisien breakfast of fresh baguette, croissant, and cafe/hot chocolate along with fresh strawberry jam and orange marmalade.

United KingdomNothing
It was an old building, peaceful, quaint and rich in historical associations. The people working their clearly tried everything they could to make their guests happy and relaxed, and this because they take what they do seriously; it is clearly what they enjoy, not simply in it for the money. This is my second visit and I would definitely stay again on my next trip to Paris.

United KingdomBecause of the nature of the building the lift only goes from the first floor. The stairs have low lighting (to retain their character, I presume), and are uneven, which is to be expected in an old building, but they were difficult to navigate for my husband who has mobility problems. There was no where for him to sit comfortably in the room.
Amazing location in our favourite part of Paris. It’s quirky and located in a tiny ancient building which has retained a lot of its character.
