Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesYou can't drive up to the front of the hotel, so it is a bit of a challenge taking cases across the traffic to get there. The door key was finicky and I needed to try it several times for it to work. I paid a little extra for the view which was okay but in order to see the water, I really needed to go out on the little balcony and look to the right.
The hotel was very central and in an old building that was very well renovated. The room itself was simple and clean with a good comfortable bed. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

IrelandCorridors and stairway, and entrance a bit tired and worn.
Twin room was spacious, nicely decorated, and nice side view over the harbour. Location was fantastic, right at the harbour. We did not have breakfast, but great coffee and pastries frombakery visible from the room.

The location is as good as it gets in the centre of town down at the old harbour. The buffet breakfast is surprisingly good for being in France. The staff was nice and accommodating.

NetherlandsThe hotel is maybe a bit pricey, and the breakfast could be a little bit more elaborate (although, breakfast is not expensive, so nothing to complain about either). We had a great stay and would definitely recommend everyone to stay here when in Marseille.
Very nice room with very comfortable beds. The room was sparkling clean and was cleaned every day. Towels were replaced by simply putting them in the bathtub. The bathroom is amazing with a large mirror and Rituals soaps. We had a room with a balcony and sight on the main street which I found to be an advantage, as there are a lot of people on the street in the evening which adds to the holiday feeling. Breakfast was good, but not exceptional. Check in-out procedure was very convenient, nice staff too.

LuxembourgWiFi was not working. And they told us it was since 2 weeks! Unacceptable.
Great location, right at the Old Port and yet once you close the windows it's not noisy anymore. Clean. Lady at the breakfast room was super kind and helpful. Breakfast is OK but as always in hotel chains it's repetitive.

United KingdomOn-line the pictures gave the impression that this is a large grand hotel with a reception and restaurant etc. On arrival, it was apparent that it was only a part of a once grand building. The entrance to the hotel felt like a back-door for delivering goods. The reception area felt like a small concierge for a low-quality block of flats, not a hotel. The interior walls of the hotel (including the rooms) feel industrial / commercial (pebble-dash). Everything is beige and ugly - almost like a military building or a police station. The breakfast room / restaurant was basic and looked temporary (we were not attracted to eating there). Generally we felt that on the website, it looked like a quality hotel, but in reality it was well located but very basic. I would have expected to pay only around half the price we paid, for a hotel of this standard.
The staff on the front desk were generally helpful and polite. The location of the hotel was lovely - right by the Vieux Port.

AustraliaTiny gripe, barely worth mentioning, but no fridge in the room. Everything else was above expectations.
I can honestly say I loved this hotel. Location, facilities, ease of access to local transport and tours, as well as being in the heart of the action at Vieux Port, were all great. Room was spacious and comfortable, view was amazing and staff were friendly and helpful.

IrelandThere were more disadvantages: lack of a refrigerator in the room, a non-working hairdryer, toiletries for only one person when we moved in together, there were also not enough towels, the mattress on the bed was good, but the pillows were simply terrible, it’s good that the bed was clean. There was nothing at breakfast except bread and croissants, since the kitchen was closed on our first morning, and I need gluten-free food, so I had to bring my own food, but we were not offered a refund for not having a full breakfast. The staff at check-in was very friendly, but at check-out they were completely indifferent. Taking into account these facts, the price for two nights is very high, and we need to work on the level of service. Thanks for understanding.
Unfortunately, our expectations about the accommodation were not met, except for the view from the window and the clean floor. The staff at check-in was very friendly.

AustraliaCheck-in was terrible. We arrived at 3pm only to be told that our room was not ready. Check-in was supposed to be available from 3pm, but they made us wait for 50 minutes - very poor arrangement. We just spent over 5 hours on the train and wanted to have our room to recover. We asked the reception what compensation they would provide due to our inconvenience and their response was appalling - “We don’t guarantee check-in from 3pm, but check-in begins at 3pm.” We were appalled but there was little we could do.
Location, comfortable room, close to Metro, quiet and helpful staff.
