Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere are stones round the pool (like a beach) and not very nice for your feet and I noticed some of the stones had got in the pool. I would suggest this is replaced by paving. Pool is a little small but very good for children
Nice room and very clean. Good Breakfast and welcoming and helpful host. He booked a taxi for us to go to a party.

Beautiful and tastefully appointed gîte, in a quiet picturesque setting bordering a vineyard. The host was friendly and helpful, and had we been there longer, we’d have loved to explore. Dinner in town was delicious.

NetherlandsBeing in the countryside, you should expect some spiders and mosquitoes, especially in the summer, so be prepared for that. Location is awesome for peace but that comes with the disadvantage that all needs to be done by car, but for the purpose of rest, it is definitely wonderful!
This was our second time at La Carreterie. It is a wonderful place with family vibes and completely among nature. It is dog friendly, and the owners are exceptionally friendly. You will get all the advice that you want about the area and what to do, or just a nice chat. Breakfast is also wonderful and we were lucky enough that the weather allowed us to have it in the beautiful garden :)

GermanyWe are grateful to have known this little paradise of calm and beauty. life is simple and time is suspended in this idyllic landscape. The owner and staff went the extra mile to support us with everything we needed, including giving us a lift to and from the train station. We enjoyed cycling around the area with the bikes provided by the house, and witnessed some glorious sunsets followed by very starry skies. Thank you for everything, we’ve been very happy here.

La Carreterie was perfect. The room was cozy and comfortable, the big garden was perfect for a walk and for the dogs, where we felt totally welcome. The breakfast was exactly what we needed. We could only stay one night, but we would like to go back!

United KingdomNothing - it was very tranquil.
Wow, this is the epitome of French Living. You definitely need a car as it is in the middle of nowhere, however it is worth tracking down. It looks like it was a former farm house as it has all the old features that are incorporated into the rooms. The hosts were extremely helpful and contact was excellent. We asked for a restaurant recommendation nearby and was not dissapointed. They were even kind enough to drop us off and pick us back up at the Le 8 restaurant -5 mins away in nearby Pineulth. This meant we didn't have to drive and could have a bottle of Bordeaux - not sure taxi's are available in the area. The room we stayed in was on the ground floor with it's own outside terrace, it was gorgeous and exceptionally clean - loved having a modern bathroom too. Breakfast was included and it was gorgeous - all the usual croissants, jams, hams and cheeses - yum yum. Lots of outside space to relax in, lovely sunbeds by the heated pool, a hammock, tables and chairs within the garden; games to play with bats/rackets/balls. Altogether a wonderful experience, our only regret is that it was just an overnight stay.

United KingdomBreakfast was served rather haphazardly - they could do with trays and a tick-list! While the dog was lovely, I watched it cock it's leg on all the outdoor games equipment!
Lovely house and garden. Comfy bed and great bathroom. Nice to have breakfast outside and enjoyed relaxing by the pool.

NetherlandsThe parking space was hard to find because there are three different driveways which all look like parking spaces, one of which has a gate. The hosts saw us looking around for a parking area and had to open the gate for us.
After a week of sleeping on a soft mattress we were pleasantly surprised by a very comfortable bed, which meant a good night's rest. The breakfast was nice. There was a good variety of food and drinks and one of the hosts was very attentive to our needs.

Breakfast was very good.. The room was perfect for us as it had its own entrance which is a bonus with a dog. All was lovely and clean. Our dog was welcome in the breakfast room too. The owners dog was still young and friendly with our dog. Perfect stay all round and we will definitely be booking again.
