Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI don't wish to say anything negative about the property or the host. Everything was excellent. Unfortunately, the Bookings.com info is from a previous owner. There is no onsite restaurant, or coffee shop as stated. The units are not fitted with a fridge and coffee machine, although there is a coffee machine in the shared breakfast room downstairs. English is not spoken, and there was no mention in French of any of the items being offered for delivery to the room as described. None of this was a problem for us and we would stay again, but someone has to change the facts in the overall description.
As a regular traveller in France, i would say the breakfast is as good as you could possibly get!Good comfortable accommodation, large bed, and a friendly host. Parking only about 25 metres from the property and not far to the centre of town.

United KingdomI can't think of anything that could have improved our experience.
Eric was an excellent host who explained everything well. The room was elegant and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent - which set us up for a visit to the Chateau and Musee in Falaise.

United KingdomFalaise itself is a very odd town. No restaurants are open in the afternoon or past 9pm. By 9.30pm the whole town is a ghost town.
Maison des Buis is a lovely very old French villa with lots of charm. The breakfast was delicious.

United KingdomA really lovely property, beautifully set up for guests and very convenient for the town. Delicious breakfast and a warm welcome. We were a little surprised to discover that Brigitte and Gilles, with whom we had booked, had just sold up to Silvie and Eric, who had only just moved in 2 days earlier! Warmest congratulations to the new hosts for so seamlessly continuing at such short notice the superb standard that their predecessors had achieved.

United KingdomNothing.
We were warmly greeted by Gilles and Brigitte. Our bed room was up a spiral staircase and Gilles took our case up as I wobble a bit on stairs. The room was large and had a good sized bathroom. The bed was lovely. The room overlooks the road but we didn’t find it a problem. You can park on the pavement outside the property and then move your car 25 yards round the corner to a parking area. We arrived on Sunday and Falaise only has one restaurant that opens on Sunday so Brigitte phoned up and booked us a table. For our second night we bought a bottle of wine and had charcuterie in the garden. They were happy to supply glasses, plates etc and we spent a very pleasant evening enjoying the garden and the peace. Breakfast. Now, where to begin. Cereals and fruit juices, croissant and bread, 4 types of delicious home made jam and freshly baked petites madeleines. Tea and coffee. English language is no problem if you are worried about communications. A really nice stay and we would most certainly recommend and also stay again if we visit the area again.

United KingdomWe loved everything?
How wonderful to arrive at this beautiful guest house, hidden behind the large entrance doors in Falaise! We received a warm and friendly welcome from the owners, who clearly love sharing their beautiful home with visitors to this historic town. Our thoughtfully decorated room was exceptionally clean and comfortable and we enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep. Breakfast was a delight and included freshly baked bread and a selection of home made jams. We highly recommend a stay at La Maison Des Buis!

United KingdomProbably not to be recommended for those with mobility issues, because of: one, the stairs to the bedroom, two, offloading baggage, as the car had to be parked about 100m away and three, the approximate 1km walk into the centre of Falaise, for example, to look for an evening meal. If you choose to use your car to access Falaise there is plenty of parking free of charge.
Charming and helpful hosts. The room was delightful with a fascinating stair access. Breakfast more than adequate. Garden was lovely. A one night stay, the last of our touring holiday in France, didn't really do justice to the facility. .

BelgiumOn Sunday, there isn't a lot to do in Falaise. Lots of shops are closed, we found 1 bar that was opened. The beds are on the firm side, this might not be to everyone's preference. I was still very comfy though and slept well.
Gilles and Brigitte are very welcoming. It's a lovely place to stay at. Their garden is beautiful. The rooms are very clean and well maintained, can be accessed 24/7, which is very practical. The option to have dinner is nice too, with a good local offer. The place is nearby the city center.
