Beautiful apartment, but beware the hosts and construction

Beware of the hosts and the noisy construction work next door. Unfortunately the hosts do not understand hospitality. Rather than focusing on creating a great experience for their guests, their focus is on how to squeeze money out of them. Check-in was described as ‘all-day’ when I booked. But as soon as I had committed and pre-paid, I received a message that I could not check in until 5pm, unless I purchased their ‘flagship service’, early check-in. Depending on the time I wanted to check in, this could cost up to €65. That’s not a ‘flagships service’. It feels more like a trick to make more money. When I asked for an extra towel, I was told this would cost €15… And before the check out they sent me a message if I wanted to buy some wine from their partner. Mind you, if they had offered me a welcome bottle and then gave me the chance to buy some if I liked it, that makes sense. But this came out of nowhere -completely absurd. 30 mins before check-out I was reminded it was really time to go as their cleaning woman was so busy and ready to go (I left 25mins before the agreed time so there was nothing to worry about) As a final demonstration of their lack of hospitality, they implored me the give them a 10/10 rating… well, that’s not how it works. Regarding the construction, as you can see in the pictures, the house next door is being renovated. The weekend was quiet, but Monday morning at 8am the power tools started… no idea how long this will take but it makes it a lot less tranquil in the garden or on the balcony.

Beautiful (small) apartment in a classy old building. The view is outstanding. The apartment is nicely equipped. The garden is pleasant and private. Without a car it’s a bit of walking to station and shops, but manageable. Beach is a 5 min walk.
