Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI made a request for a lower bunk on booking, but was given an upper one, even though I was only sharing a six bed room with one other person... I ended up taking a lower one anyway to not bother my roommate after hours. Ideally they could install privacy curtains, as the metallic bunk bed frames could easily accommodate them, and a shelf for personal items would be ideal too, especially for a charging phone, glasses, etc.
Excellent location in the city, a short walk from the train station, and a pleasant 15/20 mins walk to the old bridge and medieval city. The whole building is nicely decked out, the restaurant/bar is really appealing and has a sophisticated atmosphere not typical for a hostel. The bedrooms are on the smaller side for six people, but spotlessly clean and with comfy beds. The under bed lockers are a good size, and took my large backpack with no problems (own padlock required, as standard). Special mention to the staff, who were among the most engaging and friendliest I've met and chatted with on the road. Leaving my backpack after checkout was allowed, but not in a protected or secure place. Merci beaucoup.

FranceThere is no place to hang clothes in the bathroom. Also, the soap dispenser was empty and wasn't filled even after requesting. Food options are scarce, so you'll need to rely on the cafes & restaurants at Place Carnot.
The neighborhood is a bit congested but the hostel is within walking distance from all places - the train station, Flixbis' stop, and also the city center where all kinds of cafes, restaurants & other shops are available. You could also walk to Pont Neuf, Pont Vieux, and the castle. Full points on cleanliness too.

DenmarkNo soap or towels (not even for drying your hands). I've stayed at hostels in capital Citys around Europe, where these things were included and the price of the stay a third of the price. That being said, I would definitely chose this hostel again, unless a cheaper option were available.
Fantastic location! A 15-20 minute walk from the old medieval town / castle. The staff was nice, rooms were clean and comfortable.

FranceRoom was overall clean but they clearly don't vacuum under the bed and it kind of smelled like inside a bathroom when we first entered so we had to ventilate for while. The hotel is close to the station but pretty far by walk from the fortified city (20min). It makes a good walk but it is to consider if you prefer to be close to main touristic attractions. It is a hostel so minimal amenities and no kettle for boiling water.
We booked a private room with private bathroom. The room was spacious (I think it was a barrier-free one) and comfortable in general. It was not too far from the station and a shopping street. There is a direct access to the rooftop from the 2nd floor where we were (unfortunately it wasn't an open day for the bar but it was still opened to have a look). It was pretty calm since it was in the middle of the week so if you want to enjoy the tapas and like it a bit more lively better come on weekends. All in all good value for money.

HungaryI honestly do not know why nice hostels, like this try to save money on the heating. Honestly a mistery to me, because - specially in a case of a hostel - you do not need much - a warm bed and some clean water. The breakfast was in a cafe not far, but they did not really had anything for my taste (it offered that kind of general french breakfast, which is croissant with different fruits or jams), so I went literally the next place, where i could have a great omelette. I gave 7 because of the cold. In summer it is probably a 10 :D
It is a nice building, we had a spacious room, nice hostel generally.

United StatesThe female dorm with 6 beds was cramped with no places to put our bags, so I was stepping or tripping over others' suitcases if they overpacked. Either need less beds or a bigger space. Additionally, the hostel had a bar/restaurant attached to it and they let me keep some food in their bar fridge, but this is not a typical hostel with a kitchen and fridge for food storage. Additionally, when the bar lets out around midnight or 1am it is extremely loud outside. There is no quiet policy enforced by the staff so that the bar goers and customers are inconsiderate of those staying and sleeping at hostel. I think this is the biggest criticism--and the fault of the owners/management. If this bar/restaurant is going to also run a hostel, then at least have some kind of staff enforcement or policy by at least 1am or 2am for the bar customers TO BE QUIET.
Great location, right in the middle of everything and a 20 min walk up to La Cite. Also free luggage storage available.

AustraliaThe room wasn’t cleaned on the first out of my 2 days. Also the website says you can rent towels but you actually have to buy one for €6 and the towel is tiny (but the staff member made an alternate arrangement for me, thank you)
Excellent location in the newer area of Carcassonne, only a 5 min walk from the train station (easier than walking up to the old city with baggage!). Shops & restaurants all nice and close, yet still an easy walk to La Cité to visit the main attraction of Carcassonne. Nice bar on site but I stayed a Sunday & Monday night in the off season so no one was there.

That it was quiet, secure, well run; that the staff were helpful, good company and when I needed to return late one night, there was a back-up person reachable by phone to tell me how to enter.

ItalyNot providing towels is ridiculous. And when Inasked for a towel they said they don't provide but they "sell" towels. I had to pay 6 euro more to get a towel. I have stayed in many hostels in my life and never faced a situation like that. And also there was no soap in the room. I didn't find it hygienic.
Very good location, near to the flixbus station (4mins walking). The staff were quite friendly andeveryone was speaking english well. During theevening you can hang out at the reception/bar, drinkcocktails and dine. The courtyard is very good foreating your own food.
