Lovely well stocked studio kitchen if you wanted to cater in we didn’t . Great coffee machine but only 4 pods issued, ,then you have to buy them from reception supermarkets pods don’t fit . Ok the hotel is under major renovation it is a building site front and back and access to reception is a muddy track. Views out of window, building site. This did not bother us we were not there for the view. They don’t start early or work weekend and inside minimal noise we were out most of the time. There are no spa facilities if you were visiting for this purpose, disable access would be difficult during renovations due to track but there is a lift on ground floor to reception. Shoes muddy most of the time. The hotel is amazing but your pics are not how it is now. Hotel let us know it was renovating but the scale is huge. Didn’t bother us too much and we look forward to revisiting when it is finished.

Excellent staff,patient as we do not speak much French. Lovely spacious room made up every day required. Great bathroom nice big fluffy towels. We had a fabulous Sunday lunch when we arrived. Superb service and food. Bar relaxing and staff great. Price for the week competitive.

Breakfast lets the product down, poor food quality and selection, no cheese or cold meats. Not value for money at all.

The only thing I would have liked is tea making facilities in the room. There was a very good coffee maker (where you put the pods in), which my husband enjoyed, but I hate coffee and would have enjoyed a cup of tea had there been either a kettle or a hot water option on the coffee machine.

What a great place. Beautiful town, scenery and building. It has everything you want in a hotel. Clean hotel, clean room, clean bathroom. Big bath towels! Having a proper size bath towel is great, I like to cover my entire bum when I get out of a shower, so we were very happy and they have lovely, fluffy bath robes. Even the shower gel and shampoo were good. The bedrooms were well decorated and the beds very comfortable. Good space to put your suitcase and ace if you want a desk to work on. We opted for breakfast in our room, which was a lovely treat. Good selection of breakfast food. We ate at the restaurant and were very happy with the meal. Great food and lovely decor. All of the staff were really great, very helpful and friendly and all of them, from reception to the restaurant to the housekeeping staff were extremely hard working. I've worked in busy pubs and restaurants and the staff here kept their cool and their smiles. Really enjoyed the stay 😊

The bathroom was dirty with mud and plaster as if a builder came to repair something without cleaning afterwards.... the baby bed was dangerous because it was too soft. we couldn't use it. also when we arrived the baby bed linen weren't put on the bed.... first time ever i had to do a bed in a hotel!! The breakfast food is not fresh and local either. real pity as the hotel is located in the middle of the country side. The hotel is very difficult to be found even with the car navigation system and googlemaps....

The location of the hotel was very tricky to find, being a bit off the beaten track and not well sign posted until you were right close to it which didn't help in finding the right road in. It did not match up with the general postcode cited. A further complication was that access was blocked from one direction meaning quite a complex detour (find the bridge on the way out of Evaux les Bains on the road to Montlucon and turn second right up a lane with circular signs either side of the entry!!) On balance worth the effort. Heating had only been installed on the day of our arrival and was not calibrated resulting in the whole place being absolutely stifling! On a November's night in a chilly rural location in the pouring rain we had to ditch the duvet and eventually the sheet as well it was so hot. Not to mention having the windows wide open all night as well! We had requested for the heating to be turned off in our room but the whole building was the same. The staff on reception were most apologetic the following morning and we believe we were the unfortunate recipients of teething troubles with the newly installed system. Hopefully this will already be sorted out.

Beautiful old grand building in process of complete restoration. Some stunning features like the huge and tastefully renovated dining area as well as the general locale. The rooms were clean and spacious and had opening windows -always a big plus for us! The bedding was comfortable and good quality as were the bathroom fixtures and fittings -great shower with powerful supply and plenty of hot water. A few modern touches like USB ports on the bedside lamps as well as tea and coffee facilities in the room were both appreciated. The staff were excellent on the whole - amiable and efficient - although a young waitress was a bit spacey. The parking was good and the area secure with direct access by lift to reception and rooms. We had the menu du jour which was tasty, well prepared and cooked and astonishing value. The price of the accommodation was very fair also, but a bit out of the way (which we see as a positive)

It's a shame that such a beautiful hotel hires reception staff that is so unprofessional and unhelpful. We checked in today, Saturday, September 23rd, at 6:30 PM with a woman whose name I didn't catch. To start, she claimed not to speak a word of English, even though the flags of France, Spain, and England are on her personal badge. There was zero effort to understand us or make herself understood. Terrible communication, as if attending to us was bothersome. It seems very odd that a hotel called 'The Originals' doesn't hire bilingual staff. I honestly believe this woman has blatantly lied to us. At 10 PM, I personally went down to reception to ask for toilet paper, and she refused, explaining something in French that I couldn't understand. Only when she realized I was very angry did she come with the paper in hand. My experience has been extremely poor, thanks to this person. If I were the hotel manager, I would take action. A disaster.

The hotel was recently renovated. Room and instalations were gorgeous.

The outside is very untidy. We also should have been told to keep the window closed as we had bats fly into the room and took ages to get them out at 1am. Confusing about paying for the room as well. We asked to pay when we arrived at the hotel but were told we had paid but checked and we hadn’t,so tried to pay when we checked out but again told we didn’t have to. Now they are saying we haven’t paid but we tried twice. Now I have to call up on my holiday and sort it over the phone and my French is not very good and their English. They need more staff. But the lady on reception was very nice.

Amazing hotel but air conditioning didn’t work and due to shortage of staff only one set menu choice for dinner which we didn’t have as we didn’t like the choice. The hotel is still being renovated so the outside doesn’t match the inside of the hotel which is done to a very very high standard . The room and bathroom were lovely. But way too hot as aircon not working meant we had a terrible nights sleep.
